How long does it take for a paid collection to come off your credit report? Is there anyway that you can speed up the process? And how much does your score improve after having them removed? Thanks

I am not sure if someone else on here has already said this, but the goverment recently changed the rules for tax liens and offers in compromise.

The information can be found at the IRS website. Basically, if you have a lien, you can get it withdrawn from your credit reports.

Just follow the new information and the will withdraw it after 3 months. (which is way better than them saying paid in full)

I sent a gw letter to World Financial Network National Bank and got this letter back

Dear ____

Thank you for your recent inquiry to card holder services.  World Financial Network National Bank issues Jcrew credit card accounts and responds to all credit related inquiries

We are in receipt of your later requestiong that we investigate information reported on your credit file.  To address this concern, we have updated our records and have notified the credit reporting agencies of the changes that need to be made to your credit report.  This change should be reflected on your credit file within the next 45 days.

I sent a gw letter asking if they could remove a 30 day late from my record.  Is this a gw success?

How often do each of you check your credit scores? I’m looking to buy a house at the end of the year. I’m currently paying off every debt I have and want to be able to see the fruits of my labor, just not sure if I should check every 1 month or wait 3 months?

Do consumer finance accounts hurt your credit score? If so how much?

Help me make a list of methods to improve/rebuild credit other than disputing and removing negative items from your credit report to raise your FICO.

1. Get a secured credit card that reports to all three bearus

2. Get a secured loan

3. ???

4. ???

Yes, paying your bills on time is a big must, but when you start to rebuild.. it is a bit of a catch 22 in regards to the fact that nobody wants to give you credit to be able to prove yourself and raise your credit scores

Should the 7 years that something stays on your credit report occur  180 days after the last payment received on an account? or at charge off?

Here is the situation, car was repossed serveral years ago but was not charged off by GM until 2008, last payment was made before car was repod  in 2002

2006,2007 and up to 2008 its an ND, with a KD in Jun 2008 when it was charged off
