I had RPM Collections contact me about a 5 year old Verizon Wireless debt today.

I do believe I owe the debt, but of course they have added 300.00 in "charges" to the original amount. Checking my credit, it is indeed on my CR.

Total showing owed is 636.00

I asked the CSR about PFD, and he claimed to "not know anything about that process". I would be willing to pay the original amount owed for a PFD..but I’m not interested in "settling" the account..The way I see it, if I can’t get it deleted, there is no sense in PIF, as the resulting FICO score movement will be minimal since the debt is 5 years old. Or, at least thats my opinion on it.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

rebuilding credit

I have been rebuilding my credit since July 07! and doing really good paying my loan on time and paying off the last account. Then I get this notice that my credit card was over the limit by $ 1.31 and I couldn’t believe how it brought my credit score down. Is there anything I can do? It is a credit union credit card do you think they will take that off my credit report?

Help!

I have 4 collections accounts that show Date of 1st Deliquency, from Novemeber of 2005.  Does that mean the SOL is up?  What do I do?  (Michigan SOL is 6years.. so technically the SOL is up in November of this year?  Correct?  What do I do in the meantime with these collection accounts?)

Hello everyone, It seem as if it is taking forever for my score to rise. I started cleaning my credit report last year because I want to be a home owner. I have one Cap One card unsecured just got it 03-01-11 and a NFCU Secured Credit Card which I got 07-01-10, and my Fico score is still low.  My FICO score TU is 582 and my EQ Fico score is 575. I really want to start the process of buy a home by the end of this year. Can some one please tell me what I can do to help raise my score faster. :smileysad:

I am looking to increase my scores.  Right now they are 624 and 637.  I have a few collection accounts that I will be paying as soon as I can.  Will try for PFD when the time comes.  It says the things hurting my scores besides the collection accounts are my payment history and no revolving activity.  I have tried Goodwill letters but so far they haven’t  worked.  I pretty much gave up on them because I’m afraid they will just delete the whole account instead of just the late payments.  I am trying to show a good payment history and haven’t missed any payments for 2 years now…

As far as the credit cards go…I have had a couple store cards that are now closed due to inactivity.  I receive pre qualifed applications a couple times a week.. wondering if I should try for one of them.  My only problem is that I will be also applying for a mortgage in the near future.  I’m not exactly sure when though.  Could be later on this year or early next year.  If it is this year, I don’t want to be applying for the cc to close to applying for a mortgage….

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!

If a debt is due to “fall off” what exactly does that mean? Is it able to be resold, etc. Any info will be greatly appreciated :) In my case it is a collection from years ago, and per TU it’s due to be rmoved in november of this year. It’s out of SOL . This debt is my main priority right now and I don’t want to contact them in case of any issues that may arise.

Hi Everyone,

I am really new to this credit board, but this will be the third and final time that I have cleaned up my credit since 2003.

I was telling my co-worker about being denied for my first ever mortgage loan due to poor to low credit scoring, and he recommended this site to me.  It has already been soooooooo helpful.

Each and everytime that I cleared my score, I contacted my creditors or the CA to settle the accounts.  The problem that I am having this time is that some of the accounts of old have remained.  The Date opened was 10/99 and DOLA 05/2003, I think this was when it was picked up by a CA.  The SOL for florida for open accounts or signed contracts is 5 and 4 years.

Some accounts were paid this year through my credit union, where they allowed me to take a short-term loan to settle accounts for a lessor amount if the CA agreed to do so.  I am just finding out about the PFDs, those would have been great for those three accounts paid in January.

My score is 517 and in order to barely qualify through a first time home buyer program it has to be 620 so here I go again cleaning my credit for something that is worth and valuable and will be of great benefit to me and my family- disabled mother and brother getting back on his feet.

I will be sending PFDs to all remaining creditors to see what we can work out.  I plan to have all of these paid down or off  within the next 60-90 days.  How fast does credit scoring move up or down?

There is one account from 2010 that I contacted the CA to settle the account its full balance is 1007, they offered a settlement amount of  $705 due within 30 days, that I  did not mind paying if I could but 30 days was an impossible amount for me to pay in that short of a time period.  I do not mind paying the whole $1007 but I need more than 30 days.  Is a PDF worth sending to this CA?

I have questions about getting SOL items off of my report as well.

Thanks for all advice and help.  I have done this before on my own without the help and the items stayed on my report and I do not want to make the same mistakes. If I cna have them removed altogether that works even better for me.

I am determined to get my house this year and no later than July 1.

Thanks everyone :)

I am keeping all of my receipts this year to see how much I pay in hidden taxes each year.

So far for Jan I have paid $55.31 in sales tax on purchases.  This amount also includes my Electric Bill and Gas taxes.

Feb was even worse.  $94.05 in sales tax and the two aformentioned utility bills. I forgot to include my cable bill and Verizon wireless in these figures.  This could total almost $900.00 dollars or more if I figure the per gallon gas hidden tax and the cigarette tax for the year.  Potential hitting $1800.00 by years end.

What these numbers don’t include is the hidden tax on every gallon of gas I buy which is 12.4 cents per gallon. The tax on cigarettes per pack. I live in Georgia and that tax is .37 cents per pack . Yes I could avoid the cigarette tax by quitting, but that is not the subject of this post.

It’s the hidden taxes we all pay every day and are not aware of. Here is a link so you can see what kind of hidden taxes you are paying in your state.  Some of you are really getting hammered. Highest gas tax is in New York at 44.6 cents per gallon and then Hawaii with 44.4 cents

And if you are a drinker you get hammered in more one than one way if you are unfortunate to live in Washington state or Oregon. Respectively you pay a tax per gallon for  liquor at the staggering rate of $26.45 per gallon and $24.63.

3 and 3/4 liters are in a gallon.  For round numbers sake lets just divide that by 4.  $ 6.61 per liter of liquor in WA is a tax.

Smokers get hit the hardest in Rhode Island to the tune of $3.46 per pack.

Now in GA they want to begin taxing services.  Gimme a break, tax tax tax.   Only the regular joes the working poor if you will pay these taxes on a regular basis.

Had a car loan in that got repo’d around 07/05 and it’s due to fall next year.  They say I owe 3600 for the difference, and it’s with portfolio recovery.  Is this worth paying, or should I just wait about another year and let it roll off my reports?

How often do each of you check your credit scores? I’m looking to buy a house at the end of the year. I’m currently paying off every debt I have and want to be able to see the fruits of my labor, just not sure if I should check every 1 month or wait 3 months?
