This i my curious question.   I generally pay my cc off each month.   (cap one scured card)  And I know I need to pay the balance in full and not charge anything until after the 15th of the month.

Well i had a duh moment this week and paid a bill on the 14th with my cc and realized I just made a duh move after I hung up lol..   So with at $500 credit limit I had a balance report of $260..   DOH!   So my EQ score dropped 10 points when it registered.

So out of curiosity, when i pay it in full again next month (and not use the dang thing)  will I recover those points?  or was this just a painful lesson learned?

Thanks April

I was served papers this week. If I pay this in full before the court date will a judgement be issued on my credit report?

Do I still need to appear in court?

We all know who got blamed last time………who should we blame this time?  I hope this doesn’t derail the recovery and send us into a double dip…..which may be good when you are talking about ice cream….but not whne you are discussing the economy.  High gas prices could also really put a dent in the sales of those big SUV’s.

Rising Gas Prices Slam Consumer Sentiment

Soaring gasoline prices slammed consumer sentiment into reverse this week, threatening the slow recovery in economic views that’s been under way.

With gas now at record high for a February in Energy Department data back to 1990, the weekly Consumer Comfort Index dropped by an unusually steep 5 points to -46 on its scale of -100 to +100. It’s dropped that far only 36 times in more than 1,300 weeks of ongoing polling since late 1985; this shift erases an equally unusual 5-point gain in early January.

It’s likely no coincidence that the change in sentiment follows the federal government’s report yesterday that gas has jumped to an average $3.13 a gallon, up steadily from $2.74 six months ago, $2.65 a year ago and $1.89 two years ago this month.

The portent is not a good one. Gas prices tend to drop in winter, when demand is down, and rise in summer, when more Americans hit the road. Gas last approached this wintertime level in February 2008 – on its way to a record high of $4.11 the following July.

The index, produced by Langer Research Associates, is based on Americans’ ratings of their personal finances, the buying climate and the national economy. Positive ratings of the buying climate and the economy took 3-point hits this week; 43 percent rate their finances positively and 25 percent call it a good time to buy, compared with long-term averages of 56 and 37 percent, respectively. Just 13 percent rate the national economy positively, 24 points below its average.

After reaching -40 Jan. 9, the CCI is now at its low for the year, and its lowest since Nov. 21. It averaged -46 in 2010 and -48 in 2009; those compare with a lifetime average of -14 and a best-year +29 in 2000. Its single best week was +38 in January 2000; its worst, -54 in December 2008 and again in January 2009.

Among groups, the index dropped most sharply this week among singles, young adults – and among the wealthiest Americans, sliding into the negative zone in this customarily more positive group. They may be regretting those gas-guzzling SUVs.

We started with DH’s numbers in the 480′s two years ago.  Been paying things down and not incurring new debt.  Paying everything on time.

We have a house that we’ve been trying to sell since we moved due to his job, but stil haven’t sold, but have rented out.  We’ve been renting a home, but really wanted to buy one of our own here, but were nervous.

Well, finally found one we liked and…

we’re pre-approved!  Numbers were 702, 694, and 695.

Making an offer at the end of the week. We have enough saved for 20% down to avoid the pmi, and the mortgage payment will be about what we’re paying for rent right now.

Grateful to all of you and for all the advice and encouragement you’ve given us!

Tis the season and all that, but I finally got my Christmas bonus this week at work and I can finally pay off ALL my credit cards in full Monday afternoon.  Just Wednesday I got an alert that one of my cards was over the limit and it dropped my score 12 points.  This isn’t something that stays on my credit is it?  I can simply pay this off and it will drop my utilization causing my scores to go BACK up and all will be well, right?

THANKS!!!!

Ok, last week or so, I got written confirmation that AFNI would delete their collection from my credit report and about 2 days later, they were gone. This week, I got 2 letters from AFNI, #1. The paper copy of the email stating that they will delete and #2. Offering a settlement for 50% of what was originally owed as settled in full. My worry is that if I accept the settlement, they would put the collection back on my report as paid or even as a chargeoff/settled for less than owed. I am really trying to sweep away the damage I’ve done, any advise would help. Thanks!

Just as I reached the 700 club on TU this week, I got yet another collection on my reports this morning, this time it’s AFNI CA :-(.   This was from a T-Mobile bill I had years ago which went into collections in 2004 but I was able to get it removed in 2007 or 2008 when I started to repair my credit.  What is the best and fastest way to deal with these people  and get it deleted off my reports?  I read somewhere there is a SOL on telecommunications, is this true?  Should I email them and ask for a debt validation or ask to settle and PFD?   Please, I need to deal with this ASAP and need it off no later than December 1st.

ANY AND ALL ADVICE IS WELCOME.

I think that i have read before that CA’s have certain times that they are allowed to call.  Is this true and if so what are the hours and can they call anyday of the week?  I am sure M-F and sat what about Sunday?

Hey guys! I had no idea about Credit Steps with CapOne until you all mentioned it here. I made a mental note to call this week to see if I qualified, when lo and behold….I got the letter today! With 90 days of good use, my credit limit will go from $500 to $750!
