I have a few unpaid accounts from at&t, a utility bill, time warner and insight.  Should I dv first or go aheud ad and try to PFD?  With the DV I’m confused about whether to send it to the collection ageny or to the origonal company like AT&T or Time Warner?

Thanks for the help as always.

I have an old debt with Time Warner that sits with CMI now from 2004 for $173. It’s the only thing that I have listed in collections debt. If I pay it, does my score increase maybe? Just curious of what anyone else thinks.

Credit Protection Associates has placed a collection on my credit report. I paid the bill to Time Warner and I sent them back the cable box way before a “dunning letter” was sent out. I asked for a debt validation with them within the 30 day time frame. I faxed the information to them as it stated to do on the phone number I called in the letter. They never responded to me and just reported it was paid in full. I now tried to have it removed via Equifax and I provided them will full proof of my claim but they just sent me a copy of my credit report stating it is reporting as a paid collection. It is a wrong collection and fraudulent.

Can somebody provide me the best way to get this removed now? Time Warner never reported anything just CPA did. Should I file a lawsuit against Equifax for not properly investigating or file a lawsuit against CPA? I really don’t know what to do at this point. CPA is in Dallas, TX and I am in Atlanta. Any help is appreciated.

I sent a debt verification letter to Time Warner Cable on January 11, 2010. It requested an investigation of a debt within 30 days and a response to me. As of today I have not received any response. What should my next step be?
