Just a quick note to share the positive experience I had today.

I had a small University loan ($1,000) that was showing up on my credit report as a collection. I knew that it had been consolidated with my other student loans (federal student loans) two years PRIOR to the date they were showing it was sent to collections. I have tried repeatedly to get this taken care of, to no avail.

I recently stumbled across the National Student Loan Data System online (http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/) and my report page on this University loan showed clearly when it had been consolidated, etc. It showed every tiny little thing about that loan.

So I sent that report to the University collections office and let them know it was showing up as a collection on two of my credit reports, even though it was rolled into my other loans two years prior to their claim that they had to send it to collections.

I was very happy to get a FAST response back from them, saying: “What I will do is delete this loan (PER24A) from your credit report.  The first delinquency was more than 7 years ago therefore should not be on your credit report anyway.  All credit reporting agencies will be notified via Automated Universal Data form. I will send you a verification form stating that the deletion has been requested.  Would you like this verification by email or snail mail?”

This really made my day. She was efficient, respectful and knowlegeable. I wish every lender/CA was this good to deal with.

[Edited to add: The form says that all FOUR CRAs will be notified, including Innovis. I've never even heard of them.]

Are these 2 letters one in the same? Or do you send a Verification letter to a CA first, if they respond, then send a Validation letter?

Do you send a request for a letter of deletion before these letters or after, or both?

Thanks

OK, I am so frustrated with Experian right now Icould spit nails, not really, but I am aggrivated with them.

on Sept 29th I sent DBF’s dispute what accounts to dispute and what was wrong and why I was disputed them.

They signed for it on Oct 6th

Dated Oct 8th I get a letter back from them wanting ID verification

I sent that back they got it on Oct 21st

Dated OCt 26th I get a copy of his reports and a letter saying they could not honor his request if he beleives anything is inaccruate to dispute it and state the reason why he is disputing it, I DID THAT in the 1st letter.

11/09/10 I sent another dispute on two accounts that I disputed with the OC and the CA and neither of them had any info to send him and told EX that in the letter I sent.

They got that on 11/16/10

11/16/10 I get a letter back from EX stating that they placed a FA on his reports, DO WHAT?

11/20/10 I sent an email to an old contact there about them not disputing the accounts requested and ask that they be removed because of it and explained I sent all the info they requested yet still my  dispute hasn’t been done.

Today I get a email back asking again for ID veriification to be mailed and for me to submit my dispute AGAIN!

So that is 2 disputes that they refuse to do.

Not one but THREE request for Id Verification whcih I have already sent in

Funny thing is, from the first dispute there are several accoutns that just mysteriously dissappeared and it happned to be a few that were disputed.

What can I possibly do now?

Send them the disputes AGAIN and give them the second chance to fix their screw up when they didn’t finish my investigation in the 30 days they were supposed to the first time?

They screwed up why should I have to submit ANOTHER dispute?

I know what will happen, they realized they messed up and will do it right the second time, why should they get a second chance and I get screwed out of deletions?

I sent a PFD request to a CA, because the CA placed a collection on my CR.  The CA responded in writing as if it were a validation request.  The writing contained the OC, a file number, amount and that it was applied by the health insurance carrier as a deductible (doesn’t sound right, but that part seems irrelevant).  The letter concludes that a copy of the explanation of benefits from the OC was requested and when it is received, the CA will forward it to me.

Since then I contacted the CA with regard to the PFD request and he seems to be dragging his feet.  Although he won’t conclusively refuse to sign the PFD, I do not expect him to at this point.

My question relates to the verification request.  Since the CA took it as a validation request originally, is he still required to provide validation within a specific period of time (30 days IIRC)?  Does the original letter contain the requisite information?  And, If not, can I have this removed from my CR if he fails to validate?

I received this letter on July 13.

Any input is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I sent off a dispute to all 3 CRA’s on the 4th of this month disputing the First Premier collection account on my report. I paid the account off in 2006 and was faxed a letter stating the account was paid in full and they would request the account to be deleted. I finally found that letter so I sent it along with my dispute. I received a letter from Experian today.

“We are responding to the information you sent us. Upon careful review of your information, we determined that we were not able to use it. We are contacting the source of the information you questioned. When we complete our verification process, which may take up to 30 days or up to 45 days for an investigation of information in an annual free credit report, we will send you the results.”

It was the original faxed document from First Premier that I sent off. It shows the fax header that shows it from them and to me, the date faxed, etc. Are faxed documents not proof?

I have two more baddies to go, with one of them being Arrow. They sent me a settlement offer amount, and just yesterday I sent them a counter pfd offer. I have already gone through the verification/dispute stages. So, keeping in mind that it was mailed yesterday, I just ordered my TU score from here today, and it was higher than I expected; however, when I was looking at the accounts on my FICO report, Arrow is not listed on there. I pulled up my TU report on TrueCredit and they are still listed on there.

Soooooo, where did they go? And if they ended up deleting for some unknown reason, did I just shoot myself with the pfd letter?
