SUMMARY OF MY PROBLEM
Just put my daughter in college, she received financial aid and grants that covered the bulk of her tuition but not housing, books, meal plan and remaining balance for tuition. I thought we could easily get a private loan to cover the remaining expenses with me co-signing for her but I’ve been getting denied left and right. I don’t want to have to take a parent plus loan that will be all on me and none on her being that she’s going to be a teacher and they pardon a bulk of your loans when you teach in certain areas for a certain length of time. Can anyone tell me where else I can possibly get a loan for her?

WHAT I’VE DONE ALREADY

I applied for a 10k loan from several lenders including wells fargo, citibank, sallie mae and a few others. I need about 10k for the year and now I just don’t know what to do. Someone please show me some light at the end of the tunnel

Thanks to a fellow MyFICO’er, I shot an email to a Verizon exec on Friday afternoon, pleading for help on resolving a charge-off that I was wholly unaware of. I offered a PFD via email. This morning, I received a note from an assistant to the exec team thanking me for my email, and asking that I let them know the mobile number and account number so a member of their team could assist me.

Could this be the light at the end of the tunnel? I’m afraid to get my hopes up. Fingers crossed!

First I have to say thank you SO much for this forum.  I can really see there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and the tunnel does not look so long anymore.

Two part question:

1.

I have a secured auto loan at my credit union that was charged off in 2006.  I will have the money to pay it next week, and would like to ask for a PFD.  It shows a 0 balance on all 3 CR, and has not gone to CA.  (They never tried to repo the car.)

In 2007 received a letter from CU stating “You have a charged off loan of $XXXX.XX and an expensed off draft balance of #XX.XX.  Please remit these promptly.

Is there any advantage to the CU in me paying this debt since it has already been charged off?

I still plan to pay it, regardless, but want to know if I have any leverage in asking for a PFD.  They were always so nice to me at the CU but I just totally screwed up.

2.  I have a judgement for an exorbitant amount of money.  It was from self employment but was a sole proprietorship.  I believe they had to file with the court for their own accounting purposes.  The judgement has never shown up on any CR.  It is from 2005, and at the time it was doubtful I would ever be able to repay the money, and the creditor knew this.

My situation has changed slightly, and I can see a possibility of being able to repay, though it might take me 20 years to pay it off.

Does anyone know if a person suing you can request that a judgment not be reported?  Or does it have to do with it being self employment?  Again, these people were very kind to me, and I totally screwed up, so would like to somehow make it right.  But am also worried about this HUGE sum showing up on my CR at some point.  I am not at the point where I would feel comfortable contacting the OC and asking them this.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hello Everyone, I just really wanted to say thank you! When I started my quest of credit repair last Feb 2009 I had EQ and TU scores of 550.  I was actually minutes away from bankruptcy cause I figured there was no hope for me. When I entered college I didn;t realize the importance of credit and I got credit cards and cell phones at acted foolishly. But this site helped me realize that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that with hard work and the right info you can clear your credit. So after PFD’s GW’s and rehabbing my student loan I got an alert today saying that my EQ fico is 776! I almost fainted lol.. I’m still waiting for my dispute to be complete for TU and EX (TU is now 709 but it still has to update for my student loan and EX I don’t know) So to all of you that are rebuilding and praying for that day that you have Fair, to Good, to GREAT credit, that day could be here soon! And sooner then you think, good luck!
