Anyone deal with this company? It’s been over 30 days since I sent them a DV Letter. I have not heard back yet and I saw they added another 15 bucks to my alleged past due collection account. The original creditor listed on credit report is not even a creditor I have had in the past. could be a previous collectioin but they have never mailed or called me to let me know

. What do I do now? Write the CRA or send a follow up to the CA or both? In my DV letter I requested they hault all collection activities until they validate debt with me.

I know some people have the opinion that the FTC considers adding to credit report before validating as illegal. Is this true?

Thanks.

I’ve heard many times before that paying an account that is in collections is a bad thing because even though it shows as “Paid,” it updates your “fall off” date another 7 years. Is this true? I owe Bank of America $134, the collection company is willing to settle for $90, but I don’t know what to do because I don’t want to waste $90 if it’s going to really help my credit report/score either way. Any advice?

I was super excited to see an old collection fall off of my TU report, but it only gave me a 1 pt increase on my True Credit Vantage score.  :smileysad:

Hoping some of the GWs I sent out last month will work…

I recently read a book in which the author states that paying off a collection that is 2 years or older is worse than just leaving the old collection unpaid. Is this true? I have a couple of collections accounts over 2 years old and 1 that is 1 year old.  Is paying off these accounts really bad?

I have a collection on my credit report tha I want to take care of. But don’t know what the best way is.  Its  for $665  and from Credit One bank.  I didn’t know this was still on collections I thought I payed it off but going threw my pile of crap couldn’t find anything.  The collection agency isn’t listed but just a mix of numbers and letters are given.  It says “146YC12066′ under Collection agency date assigned Aug 2007.   What is the best way to take care of this.  I heard of people making a deal where they willl deleat the collections off the creidit report if I pay it in full.  Is this true?

Thanks for all your help

Hello all,

So it appears that Experian is no longer offering a FICO score to the public so may I ask what is the score that you can pay for through the Experian website?

https://experian.experiandirect.com/tripleadvantage/Order1.aspx?areaid=22&pkgid=X2THZ&SiteVersionID=884&SiteID=100219&sc=670087&bcd=TAred0110&mboxSession=1293556572201-860600

This is a triple advantage score from the Experian website available for a $1. If this is not your true score why would Experian be selling it?

Thanks!

Please if anyone can answer this?

I believe that under a financial advisor blog, I read that there shouldn’t be any negative accounts under $100.00 reporting on a CR? Is this true?  I have one for $60.00 and another for $ 81.00. Please advise. Thank you and Happy Holidays to all…

I am thinking about buying a house but even if I don’t still need help. I have medical bills that have not gone to collection but will soon unless I make payment arrangements. If I decide to buy a house will the medical bills be a factor on my interest. I was told they don’t include medical bills when you try to get a mortgage, Is this true?

I think that i have read before that CA’s have certain times that they are allowed to call.  Is this true and if so what are the hours and can they call anyday of the week?  I am sure M-F and sat what about Sunday?
