I paid off my defaulted loan in August of this year, and want to know what changes I should see in the credit report? I’ve read in various post that the item will stay on the report for 7 years, but reported as zero balance. It is unclear to me whether the item will fall off at all (I assume no), and whether this will continue to have a negative impact to my score?

Thanks!

Greetings everyone!!

I’m new to the Forum and don’t know if this has already been discussed, but I’m trying to rebuild and was wondering if anyone knew if it’s smarter to pay off the charged off accounts or let them stay on the report for the 7 years. Will my score go up if it’s paid off (settled- not for the entire amount owed)? If it doesn’t positively affect my score, then should I let it ride??

Thanks!

Hello all,

I have one baddie left on my report, which is a cap 1, from when fell on hard times. I’m not sure what the original date of default was, but it’s been at least 5 years since that date. There was one 30 day, one 60 day, a 90 day and a 120.  In 2007, they gave me another card, and I have made every payment on time with them and all of my other cards. Should I send a GW letter to have it removed, or should I just wait until it falls off? I don’t want it to update and drop my score. Do they list the original default day on the report, and I’m just missing it?

Hello all,

I hope that everyone is having success as they try to repair their credit.  It still amazes me how much it has become an addiction.  OK here is my issue, and success with this would be HUGE, and I will be forever in MYFICO’s debt.  I have been reading the NY’s FCRA in regards to SATIFIED judgements being removed after 5 years versus the 7.  Here is what I found….(not sure how to cite this to avoid copyright rules so forgive me :smileyhappy:)

Here is what I am reading:

This was from http:assembly.state.ny.us/leg

(f) (1) Except as authorized under paragraph two of this
subdivision, no consumer reporting agency may make any consumer report
containing any of the following items of information. (i)
bankruptcies which, from date of adjudication of the most recent
bankruptcy, antedate the report by more than fourteen years;
(ii) judgements which, from date of entry, antedate the report by
more than seven years or until the governing statute of limitations
has expired, whichever is the longer period; or judgments which, from
date of entry, having been satisfied within a five year period from
such entry date, shall be removed from the report five years after
such entry date;

(iii) paid tax liens which, from date of payment, antedate the
report by more than seven years or, a paid, satisfied or vacated tax
lien involving a purchaser, transferee or assignee in a bulk sale
transaction who has been deemed liable by the state tax commission for
sales taxes due from a seller, transferrer or assignor under
subdivision (c) of section eleven hundred forty-one of the tax law,
where the receipt by a credit reporting agency from such purchaser,
transferee or assignee of a notice, or true copy thereof, from the
state tax commission to such purchaser, transferee or assignee that
his liability has been wholly paid or satisfied or no longer exists,
antedates the report by more than thirty days;
(iv) accounts placed for collection or charged to profit and loss
which antedate the report by more than seven years; or accounts placed
for collection or charged to profit and loss, which have been paid and
which antedate the report by more than five years;
(v) records of conviction of crime which, from date of disposition,
release, or parole, antedate the report by more than seven years;
(vi) information regarding drug or alcoholic addiction where the
last reported incident relating to such addiction antedates the
consumer report or investigative consumer report by more than seven
years;
(vii) information relating to past confinement in a mental
institution where the date of last confinement antedates the report by
more than seven years; or
(viii) any other adverse information which antedates the report by
more than seven years.

I have a judgement that was filed in 8/19/2005, and it was paid in full.  I have the original court document, and the letter from the lawyer showing that it is satisfied in full .  I would like to write a letter to EX and attach the documents supporting the claim.  Would anyone have any suggestions, and/or an example of the letter that I should write to have this judgement removed??? PLEASE and Thank you!!

Anyone know which day of the month Sallie Mae updates?  And do they update regularly?  I just paid of my SL through a consolidation and it would be SUPER if SM reported zero balances for a period before the new loan hits.  I’m thinking it would be a great boost to my credit score.  Would it?  I’m trying to get a mortgage and if I can time it right, I’ll have my lender pull the report when they update.  Do you think it would have an affect at all?

Currently I’m at a 640 – I recently (within the last month) made a jump from 546 to 640 (yay!)

I have no BK, 4 accounts that have “negative information” but nothing is outstanding or in collections. All my debts have been paid. I have opened up a secured credit card that reports monthly to the bureaus.

I was wondering if you had any tips on improving my score. I know hard inquiries are bad- I have 8, but they will be 2 years old at the end of the year and start falling off the report (according to the credit book I have).  Also- i’m going to be purchasing a vehicle in the near future.

Any tips?

Thanks!

My hubby had a bank of America secured and we ended up not being able to keep up with payments but with our income tax we paid it off, is there anyway to have this removed from the report as bad or do we just have to wait till it comes off?

We also have a 600.00 baddie that is on the report with a CA, but I know who the OC is, can I contact the OC to try to make payment arrangements?

Other things on his report are small amounts and are easy for us to PIF, can I just send a PFD to the CA or contact the OC and do a PFD?

I just wanna go as simple as possible, I know all on the report is ours, we just didn’t have the means to keep up with things and now we are in a better place to get things on track. As there any reason that I should not pay/contact the CA? Age? We also have 3 medical one which has been paid but still there how do we handle that?
