Ok guys, so I paid all my bad credit cards today. They have not reported yet but should be in the next month or so. Other than the credit cards that are showing negative right now, everything else on my report is red flags for 30 days and 60 days late and I also had a Chap 7 Bankruptcy so the remaining items state “included in bankruptcy. So in recap I have

15 items that state zero balance, included in bankruptcy.

4 credit cards that are charged off, (These were the ones I paid in full today).

5 items that show 30 or 60 days late.

So other than waiting for a few years for items to fall off, what is the route that I should take to start clearing some of this stuff up?

All advice appreciated, thank you.

I’ve been making great progress with cleaning up my credit.  By far the biggest baddie on my report now is a public record for unpaid state taxes in GA in 2004.  I kept thinking that they would just drop off in 2011 but as I read recently, they stay on for 7 years after the date of payment.

The original balance was about 800 dollars and I partially paid in 2008 but stopped with my plan.  I can now pay the remainder off (roughly $450) and I fully intend on doing so.  My question is, how do I use the leverage of the remaining balance to TRY to get a PFD from the state of GA?  Does anyone have any experience with this and does anyone know if this is even possible?

Will paying this in full report any score change from having it not paid?  This will release the lien I have (tax lien) but it will still say public record.  Can I get this removed somehow?

THANK YOU!!!!!!

I broke a lease back in Feb. 2008. I good reason to do so. I even hired a lawyer before moving to make sure I was doing things right. I actually had 2 good reasons to move.  I made a deal with the property management (Oct. 2007) , that I would stay until Jan. 2008 and then leave hassle free. Of course after I moved, I started getting bills for the remaining 6 months on my lease. Then a Law firm started threating me with lawsuits if I dont pay. I had my lawyer deal with them. My lawyer responded with my side of the story and  we were quite prepared to take our case to court if they choose that route. The law firm avised the property management not to try and take legal action because our case was very strong. The decided not to pursue the matter any further.

Fast forward to Sep. 2009, I find out the law firm reported to all three CRA’s. I sent a letter to the law firm demanding that they withdraw the collections charge off or else. The only thing is, I don’t know what “or else” is.  What can I do about it? I wanted them to try and sue me, but they decided not to. Can I sue a CA  to force them to remove the collections?  I am not looking to sue for any money damages. I rather not have to go file a law suit and deal with it as a plantiff at all. But I will if thats possible.  Seems to me this is not legal. They know they have no case, but do I?

 Thanks

I disputed some charged off cc with Transunion.  All of these accounts were settled less than full balance.  I disputed the balance as the OC or the CA had not update the information yet.  I got the results of my dispute today and Capital One and Midland Credit Management have reported the remaining balance on the credit report and do not show a 0 balance.

How do I proceed?  Do  I need to send the settled in full letters to Transunion for them to show the correct information?  And how can the CA and OC get away with reporting this incorrectly?  I waited a whole stinking month for the report to update, then another month for the dispute to resolve.

Hi everyone, and what a great website!

I have three collection accounts which have been “assumed” into one account number with the local CA.  All three originated with medical bills at the local hospital.  I am in a position to pay the first off now;  the second in two weeks;  and hopefully the third before Christmas.  My questions:  should the PFD letter be directed to the hospital, or to the CA?  Also, I am concerned about the creditor allegedly “accepting” my offer, getting payment, then recognizing that because I have the other two accounts pending, not fulfilling their end of the agreement.  If I become aggressive and sue or send threatening letters, wouldn’t that jeopardize my success in getting them to accept a PFD on the remaining accounts?  I’m really at their mercy.  If they “accept” and I pay, and they take no action, there’s little I can do without sabotaging my future success.  Any suggestions?

I was just wondering something, at one point 2 years ago I had a Tribute account with 1000, a Salute account with a 1000, and a Christian Community cc with 2000. Last year, first the Tribute ” closed” ( they said no longer offering that program. Then Salute ( same thing). This past month, CCCU sent me a letter stating that they would not renew my card and the reason given was “poor credit”. OK heres my question, is it me, or are companies closing accounts? My credit is way better now than it was when I got the cards and I NEVER was late ( I haven’t been late on any payment for at least 5 years. So wht are they closing? Second, the remaining cards I have have low cl , should I open a secured card? and will that help my score? also, anyone know of a secured card that can go unsecured? Its been a while since I’ve posted.

i am just wondering if anyone can help me out here. my credit is pretty bad. i do not owe a single penny to credit cards all my debt is bills that i didn’t pay when i was young and dumb, and didn’t know the importance of credit. now that i’m 25  i realize how stupid i was. i’ve got verizon cell phone bills, money owed to a bank, a book club account, an old electric bill and an old house phone bill. all of these accounts have been listed with collection agencies. This year, when i got my tax return, i paid off a few of the other accounts that i had and my credit score went up 14 points (not a lot, i know, but it was a pretty big deal for me). my question is: if i pay off the remaining accounts with next years return, will it help my chances of getting better credit? my balances will all be $0.00, but the dates of these accounts are all under 7 years. will the fact that i no longer have a balance due help me? or are al those dates still going to ruin my chances until my 7 years is up?

also, it says on my report that what is hurting my score is no major credit cards… but i can’t get approved to have one because of the limited credit history with cards and the past due accounts…. any advice on getting one? i’ve looked into the secured cards, but #1 i can’t come up with the $300 to start, and #2 i just can’t see paying that much to have a card.  it also says the number of delinquent accounts is hurting me (back to origianl question) are they still going to be considered deliquent if i pay the balances off?
