How can you tell when your are "softed"?

Currently I use True Credit and Equifax and I would love to know how can you tell when  a company has softed you as I can not seem to tell from the products? I also use Fico score watch. Thanks!

New to forum here. I have learned a great deal of  very good info from reading these posts. Thanks.

 

Here’s my problem.  I’m fresh out of BK (discharged 12/2009) and am unable to access any of the 3 CR’s online through annualcreditreport.com due to what appears to be a problem verifying my identity. Problem seems to be related to me changing my phone number last year and keeping it unlisted. But from what I’ve gathered here it could be some sort of hold or freeze instituted by the CRA’s. 

 

I’d like to purchase one of the products available through myFICO but am wondering if myFICO will be able to access my information online when it appears that I cannot. I’d much rather deal with this whole situation online than via conventional mail.

 

Appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this for me.
