I decided to pay the 6 accounts on my credit report. I decided to pay in full, and for the ones I can pay for deletion would be great. Two accounts will be deleted when I pay, the other four I having negociated yet. Any advice before I do this? I read the good and the negative, but it seems like in the long run if I can get them removed that great for my report, but even if I pay in full it is better than a settlement. I am just waiting for my federal refund to do this.

Hi Folks,

I just received my CH7 BK discharge 4 days ago and I’m starting to work on my credit-reports.

I have several derog-accounts on file BUT these accounts are not the oldest on file. I’d say they are equal to my AAoA.

Most of them are charge-offs and due to my BK, they all report a $0 balance.

The DOFD of these negative accounts was already a couple of years ago and they are scheduled to fall off by 2013/14.

So should I leave these accounts as is or should I try to remove them?

Did I get that right that after 7 1/2 years after the DOFD, the negative markings are removed BUT the rest of the tradeline is still reported as if I was never late until it reaches 10 years?

How’s that supposed to work? I’m asking because the reports I have are clearly indicating a date how long these ACCOUNTS are staying ON FILE – and that date is clearly connected to the DOFD-date and not to the 10 years.

I’m very interested in knowing more about that because I obviously suffer from a lack of imagination-power to figure out how a discharge/reposession is supposed to be reported as a positive tradeline from one day to the next..:smileysurprised:

Thanks in advance!

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if the HIPAA process applies to bills that were paid through collections? We had some medical bills that were sent to collections. We paid them off through the collection agency. They show up as paid on our credit report, but because of the negative, still affecting our credit score.

Any info will be appreciated!

Thanks,

I completed my student loan rehab in Sept/10. My credit report has been updated to say Pay As Agreed but it still has some negative payment history on the updated account. It also shows the old accounts which were last reported Sept/10 as collections. Needless to say that my credit score DID NOT increase. Am I missing something? I thought one you do a rehab that the negative payment history is deleted & your scores increase!! Please give insight..Thanks!

Any help/advice would be appreciated.  I had two student loans (CSA) that went into collection (progressive) and has been in collection the past 4-5 yrs.  Each loan amount is only $2000 each and the CA offered a rehab program (9 month payment) at which time, the negative report will be removed.  I heard from the board that the government offers rehab program and wanted to know if the rehab program offered by the CA is legitimate.  I know that paying off the collection will result in the negative being in my CR for a long time and wanted to know if the rehab program the way to go.  I also wanted to know what the monthly payment would be for joining the rehab program.

Thanks a bunch.

I had a Tribute Mastercard that was charged off. They asked me if I wanted to reage and reestablish and I agreed. They deleted all the negative stuff and everything was going peachy. Then I lost my job and instead of being responsible and calling them, I let it get charged off again. I have since gotten a steady paycheck and requested a second reage/reestablish. I was told thanks but no thanks. Is there another point of contact with this company anyone has had success with? I would just write the CEO and VP but I know their mail is screened and it would probably get redirected and such denied. If anyone has a better contact for them, please let me know. Thanks.

Hello all,

I had a quick question on a private loan (not a gov loan) that was sent to collection.  I need some assistance/advice on what is the best option for me in terms of improving my credit score and for future home loans.

The collection agency told me I can join their payment plan and after 9 successful monthly payment, the negative mark will be removed from my credit.  Another option is to pay the amount but the negative mark will still appear.  Will paying the collection right away hurt my credit score and my ability to get an fha loan?  They stated they cannot settle (lower amount) and found the 9 month payment plan would be attractive as they stated it will be removed.  However, if I want to apply for a fha loan in the next 5-6 months, I don’t know if paying off the amount will hurt my score or my changes of a fha loan.

Any advice would be appreciated.
