Hello MyFico Family,
Â
Thanks for making this site second to none!!! On second wave of GWs and inquiring if anyone had “recent” contact info for one of the following below. The first wave of GWs was nearly 9 months ago. However, Im pretty persistent. These are all lates closed or settled prior to 2008 but definitely worth a try. Â
Â
1. Cap One (I know..they are tough)
2. Care Credit/ GEMB
3. Bank of America

This is a fascinating and contreversial site which is all over the internet on EVERY kind of FORUM and the details may be seen at the following email address:

Warning to the faint or feint hearted. It is very SCARY with the known facts and very contrevertial by the far right and most financial and stock advisors (you will see why). It will affect your life no matter what people think and everyone should know the facts. I would like to let all know it is now growing exponentially on Y Tube where there were only a thousand hits which, in one day, is approaching a half million and sometimes difficult to access. If Forums does not permit the use of the name Y Tube…they can advise me before I have to prove I have seen the name used here a dozen times.
IT IS VERY SCARY but more important than anything you will read and decide for yourselves.
Hello Everyone this is my first posting, but I have been reading the myfico forums for awhile and have learned a great deal. I used to have excellent credit until about 2005. Unfortunately having money in my mid twenties , coupled with 120K in unsecured credit left potential for overuse. I have paid all my bills on time since, but have the following baddies still remaining:
Â
BOA platinum plus(closed, originally-$6800): 0 balance-four 30 day lates
BNY personal line of credit(closed in 2006, originally-$1500): 0 balance-currently reporting 30 day late. obviously an error. Cannot verify to whom this TL belongs to.
Chase platinum(closed in 2007, originally $10000): settled for less than full/CO. This TL was opened as 0-12 months interest free on balance transfer and purchases, and I had disputed the interest amount as I was charged since day one. I was never aggresive about it until the amount built up after 18 months or so and paid the pricipal amount, roughly 10K and did not pay the interest of $1097 for which they recently sent me a 1099-C form. Can anyone assis me as to what I should do?

Is it an unrealistic notion to attempt a 100 point FICO score increase within 12 months with the following plan of action?
I was thinking about opening 2 secured credit cards (so that they don’t do a hard inquiry) in addition to paying off all my collections.
There is an outstanding balance of about 200 dollars on a small personal loan I took out in order to bump up my credit (all payments have been made on time). Â It will be paid in full in about a month and a half.
Also, if I successfully manage to have creditors delete negative information from my credit reports after I pay the outstanding balances in full, will this actually result in a credit score increase? Â Or is it only good in that the derogatory information won’t show? Â I have done some reading on this subject and haven’t gotten a definitive answer.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance!

Okay folks. You guys have always been very helpful in the past and I’ve got my last (and worst) baddie left.
Â
A little about me, I started rebuilding back in the summer of this year and I was down around 545 in EQ/TU. Got a few items deleted and shot my scores up to the 640 range in about 2 months. Then I started getting new CCs and they dropped to around 620. Right now, my UTI is 95% reporting but I literally just paid them down to 5% in total so I’m told I should see anywhere from a 50-80 point increase.
Â
I still have two negatives on my account (an old HSBC settlement in 08 that just wont get GW’d) and a National Fitness collection that’s paid in full which they REFUSE to delete – WORST COMPANY EVER BTW.
Â
My final and worst baddie is a partially paid Public Record for a state tax lien. I have a balance of roughly $450 which I can pay in full right now but I want to make every effort to if not get this deleted, mitigate any further damage by paying this. I understand that this will continue reporting as paid for 7 years AFTER I pay it but I’ve heard that WHEN you pay it, it actually pulls your score down at first. I also have heard that if you can prove that having the TL deleted can help you AND the state then they will remove it for you.
Â
Does anyone know the following?:
1. Can I get this removed through some fancy footwork? Has anyone had any luck with this sort of situation?
2. IF I pay this off am I better off paying in full/installments? I want my scores to NOT drop of course.
3. Will paying this off in fact lower my scores? I know, sounds crazy, but that’s what I’ve heard.
4. Will having it paid do anything to increase my scores BEFORE 7 years?
5. Any other advice?
Â

I have a CO 12/1/2007 on from Cap1 bank from 2006-7 and on my report its showing as balance owed ~$810. Now I have knowledge of this account, and asked to close this account way back when. I’m cleaning my reports up and want to know what should I do.  While going through my filing cabinet I found a letter, which was the final correspondance from Cap1 on 7/27/2007 that I received stating the following
“Dear customer,
Your cap 1 deposit account has been closed and charged off due to the overdrawn status. bla bla blah bla blah.
Â
At the top it list my account number and account balance of $32.00!!!!
Â
I’ve disputed this with the CB already and they “verified” it last month.
Â
My question is what course of action should I take with this letter i have from Cap1.
My utility company has reported my account negatively in the past. I have brought the account current and have asked them to consider removing this negative account from my report. In response to my good faith letter they wrote me the following:
Â
Thank you for your reply. I understand your concern about the impact of your credit report and I am sorry to hear about the financial difficulties you experienced. I see that your account was reported negative five times this year. However, by law, we cannot change accurately reported notifications. As Eileen explained, We Energies is required by Federal Law (Fair Credit Reporting Act) to provide accurate information each month based on customer payments.
Â
My question is: Is it against the law for them to remove it?
