Hi, I’m new here (as a poster).  However, I have been reading the myFico forums probably a little over a year now to see how to improve my credit.  It is has been rather helpful so far I have managed to get several things removed from my credit.

Ok, here’s my situation (not sure if it’s good or bad – @ first thought I was under the impression it was great but after reading how low down CapitalOne can be I’m not so sure)…so here goes:

I checked all 3 of my CR’s @ the beginning of the year just to see where I stand, dispute charges online,  and start putting DV & PFD letters together.  When I checked my CR’s @ the beginning of the year CapitalOne was on there listed as a Charge Off and is not supposed to be deleted for another 3 years (amt over $1000). So, I checked my CR’s about a month ago and CapitalOne is completely GONE! It is no longer listed on any of my CR’s.  I have not contacted them in any shape, form, or fashion nor have I made any settlements or talked to them.

So, I am a little confused as to what is going on.  I searched high and low not only on this forum but other “credit boards” as well, and did numerous google searches to see if anyone else has experienced CapitalOne just “disappearing” off their credit report before the deletion date without making any payments, settlements, or talking to them.

I’m trying to figure out how CapitalOne just disappeared like that.  Should I count this as a blessing or be worried of an upcoming lawsuit? I have been worried that CapitalOne has turned my account over to their attorneys and they are going to hit me with a lawsuit sooner or later.

Anybody else experienced this or have knowledge of this type of situation?

Hey all, I need some advice regarding my BOA derog. Here is the background story:

I had some fraudulent charges made on my BOA CC in May 2007. My account was frozen because of these charges. I called and explained that the charges were not mine and the charges were promptly removed from my credit card. A few months later, they reappeared. I called again and was told that I needed to sign an affidavit and was told not to make payments on them. I signed the affidavit and mailed it in and thought everything was all set. Well, because of non-payment, a 30 day late penalty was reported to CRA’s. In 2008, I disputed with Equifax and it was removed from my CR. In the beginning of this month (11/2010), I had disputed this with TU and EX because I was not aware back then that I was supposed to dispute it will all 3 CRA’s. The results came in for Experian and it updated the derog date by a month later. I called BOA and was told that their computers only have information from the last two years and everything else is on microfilm. I’m not sure what my next steps are.

My very first post..recently I decided it was time to try to clean up my credit…finally had some extra cash and reached out to NCO to see about paying these medical bills off.  Well, this was before reading all of the helpful information about getting something in writing before paying or agreeing to anything.  So back around the beginning of September, I paid off 3 separate collections from NCO (all small amounts – $75, $55, and $75).  When I first pulled my report it was showing “Paid Collection.”  At that time myFICO EQ was 5866  (I know it sucks, right?).  I pulled another myFICO EQ and it went up to 628 (as of Sept 27).  I was curious to see why, and by looking at my report, it doesn’t show any of the NCO collections.  It also doesn’t appear on my TU or EX reports as well.  When I pulled TU back on Sept 28, NCO was there, but no longer when I checked on Oct. 5.  I received EX in mail and as of Sept 27, no NCO.  I didn’t ask them to delete, but is this really possible?  I am hoping that this is not a clerical error that will come back to bite me later.  Anyway I am truly grateful and just working on paying down my CC now.  I am at 52% utilization and hope to get down to below 10% by the beginning of the new year.

Starting Score: EQ 566 (09/08/2010) TU 599 (09/28/2010)

Current Score: EQ 628 (09/27/2010) TU 609 (10/05/2010)

Goal:  Make 700 Club!

I tried to start the new year right with fixing my credit and it was good at the beginning but i havent been working much since I am in retail and fell behind about 2months on my capital one and nationwide bank credit card. Is there anyway to fix this problem? any advice is greatly appreciated. I would like to know if I can send a GW letter or something.

So I never realized that this CA is updating monthly and I’ve been trying to work on a PFD with them for about a year now.   This must explain why my TU is so much lower.   Should I just continuee to try and PFD, or since they update at the beginning of each month, send them a DV about mid month and see if they update before they respond and try to use a potential (albeit shaky) FDCPA violation as a negotiating tool?    I’m infuriated that a CA can update each month and continue to make a collection appear brand new.   I’ve read in a few places that since this is not revolving or installment debt that they cannot do this but I’m not sure if that is accurate.  Any opinions are appreciated.

Hi guys, first post, but I’ve been reading these forums for months.  Great community.

Here’s my question.  I currently have a CA reporting on my credit report for a debt that i am making payments to the CA for.  I’m almost paid off and want to gain some bargaining power to have the TL deleted from CRs.

Anyone have any advice on how I can do this?  I know I should have done a PFD in the beginning, but I was uneducated when I agreed to pay monthly on the debt!  Is there a way I can send a letter instructing the CA to delete if the accept the last payment?  Or should I just wait and hope for GW?  Thoughts?
