I owe Sprint money from 4 years ago and was wondering if they would settle for a percentage of what I owe?
On my Equifax CR I have a collection account from Sprint for $361. The Date of Last Activity is Jan. 2008. I am thinking about doing a PFD. Is that a good idea?
Â
There is no contact info for this debt listed on my CR, do I just call Sprint and ask for the collections department??
Â
Leah said to contact Sprint if the SOL has expired (which I am pretty sure in AZ is 6 yrs) and ask for a recall. What is a recall and is it better than sending a PFD letter?
Â
Confussed….

….Call Sprint. Talk to them. If they still own the debt and just hired a CA to collect, you can still pay them. And avoid the CA interest fees. You can also negotiate a “recall”. Pay Sprint, and they’ll pull from the CA. Resulting in a removed collection on your reports.
Who do I go through to dispute a collection on my credit report. It is from Sprint posted has a paid:closed as a collection account. Tje thing is that Sprint credited my account because of the circumstances of the bill finally after a year of trying to get someone who was reasonable.
Â
The promotion gives you 30 days to decide if you like the service or not . On the 30 day I called and told them I do not like the Nextel service and wanted to go back to the sprint phone. Well the person I spoke to said that the phone had to be back to them by the 30th day, which was not on the agreement. Needless to say she did not agree with me as a much as I told her I had 30 days to decide.
I just found on my TU report that there are 3 CA’s reporting the same acct. The acct is from Sprint PCS. The funny thing is that the original acct number is different on each collection but the amounts are the same. I know I only had one acct from Sprint go into collections, years ago so it has to be the same account. Are CA’s allowed to report like this? Should I just DV them and see what happens?
OK so I ordered my annual credit report. There was a collection account on it. It says Sprint, but was added by west asset management. I opened a Sprint account for my brother (stupid), and thought it was taken care of (stupid again).
Â
1. It says date open is 02/2010, but the phone was shut off in 05/2009. Is this showing correctly?
Â
2. I have yet to receive any sort of correspondence from them (I did however move in 2009). Do they have to let me know when reporting? If they sent it to my old address and it wasn’t forwarded does that count as them trying to contact me?
Â
3. What is the best way of dealing with the situation? Should I call them? Set up monthly payments? Pay in full?
Â
4. Am I correct in beleiving If I do pay off the debt it will lower my score? How long does it take for the score to start rebounding?
Â
Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.
A few weeks ago I sent a PFD letter to ER solutions for an old Sprint bill. Because I didn’t hear back from them, I decided to call. The lady I spoke to said that they
would agree to the PFD and would send it to me in writing. A few days went by and I recieved nothing. This week I received a letter from them that said ” Here is the
info you requested”, which was an actual copy of my sprint bill from Feb. 2008. In the meantime I checked my credit report and the collection had come off my report.Â
Yesterday I finally recieved the letter stating they agree to the PFD and it was dated 7/28/10. ?????? What do I do now?
Here is the short version of my story. I had an old Sprint bill, they said i was under contract when I was not. I changed carriers to ATT. After arguing with Sprint for months about the final bill they sent me. It showed up on my credit as a collection account under Harvard Collections. I disputed this account and sent my “proof” to the CRA that I did not owe this amount in spite of Sprint’s claims. The account was deleted from my credit report but I started getting mail from credit collector ER Solutions demanding the bill. I went through the same process and it ended up on my credit report again. I filed another dispute last Friday, and today the accounts were deleted from all 3 reports. My friend is telling me my best out is to call Sprint now and just pay the bill (even though I don’t think I owe it) because after the investigation by the CRA it will show back up again.
Â
I can pay the bill $250-cancellation fee, but I don’t know if that will help or hurt me at this point.Â
Â
Should I wait to hear from Sprint or another collection agency
Contact Sprint and just pay the bill or
Wait to hear from the credit reporting agencies
