I was contacted this morning about a debt owed of 3k. They were willing to settle for $1200. Normally I would have jumped on this settlement, but my readings on the boards have taught me to negotiate!

I told her that my counter offer was to either:

1 – accept the settlement and set up a payment plan to have this reported as settled in full ( I don’t want to take this option)

2 – accept the settlement and pay it all in full to have this deleted or reported as paid in full

She said she’s never done this before, but would check with her manager and call me back! I will keep you updated.

Any other ideas on counter offers???

I have a couple of medical collections on my equifax report from MEDClear, Inc (Horsham, PA).  The DOFD is 11/2006; the Date of Major Deliquincy Reported is 10/2008.  None of them list the OC and my EOB’s don’t go back that far.  Any advice on what to do?  Should I dispute as not mine with CRA.  I have no evidence these are mine.  Any advice is appreciated.  Thanks so much to all of you very wise people who offer such great support and knowledge.

I completed my student loan rehab in December.  TU and EX have updated their reporting.  Still waiting on EQ.

The original loans were with Nelnet and they picked them back up again.  They are reporting the new loan with a balance of $58,107 and a high balance of $39,164 on TU and EX.  Is this reported correctly on the new loan?  Or can I ask them to report the new loan as $58,107 only to help my “utilization”?

What is the difference between the DOFD vs Date Reported?  I have one final derog that should drop off March of 2011, but now I’m not too sure because of how it’s reporting.  All my CR’s, including FICO show it as “Date Reported – March 2004″.  Being that it is so close to (hopefully) dropping off, I don’t want to press my luck and send in a letter inquiring, thus updating the file and dropping my score.

Does anyone know if the DOFD and Date Reported are the same?

Thanks and Happy Holidays!!!  Be safe.
