I sent a gw letter to World Financial Network National Bank and got this letter back

Dear ____

Thank you for your recent inquiry to card holder services.  World Financial Network National Bank issues Jcrew credit card accounts and responds to all credit related inquiries

We are in receipt of your later requestiong that we investigate information reported on your credit file.  To address this concern, we have updated our records and have notified the credit reporting agencies of the changes that need to be made to your credit report.  This change should be reflected on your credit file within the next 45 days.

I sent a gw letter asking if they could remove a 30 day late from my record.  Is this a gw success?

My FICO score is below 700 because I have a small claims court judgment from 4 years ago posted in my credit reports.  However, this small claims case  had nothing to do with my credit risk.   The case involved a minor auto collision where the driver was claiming $4,000 in vehicle damage which I disputed.  The small claims judge agreed with me and only awarded the driver $800.00.  In effect, I won, yet this record appears as a negative on my credit report and FICO.

The public record of this judgment has nothing whatsoever to do with my credit worthiness, e.g. a bankruptcy or tax lien.  Yet it is harming my credit score. Is there anything I can do?

What happens if I dispute a “paid in less than full” settlement that I initiated from 4 years ago? Looks like the OC has been merged with a different creditor, for example was Providian now is Chase. I read somewhere that if the creditor merges that sometimes the record keeping may get lost in the shuffle.

Is the worst that can happen be that the dispute results in a verified as accurate?

Do I understand correctly that the fall off date will not be affected by my actions?

Sorry for reposting if this has been addressed, I’m pretty exhausted from reading so many posts. Thank you for any replies.

I have an LVNV Funding account that was bought from Sears back in 1998. I believe the DOFL ( From Sears ) is around mid 1998, but the LVNV account shows open 2006.

Anyways, i received settlement letter from one of their puppet companies and its a 30% offer. Mind you, the amount is minimal ( $90 ), but i wonder if its a good idea to settle it being such an old account.  I would expect it to be off my record soon and im worried than settling might actually hurt me more.

What should i do?

So I have a Capital One chargeoff with a date of first delinquency of March 2005.  I settled the account and paid less than the full balance a few years ago, before I knew that this would reflect negatively on my credit report and I should have negotiated a “paid in full” status before paying the chargeoff.  Oh well, now I know better.

I was able to have Transunion completely delete the record based on the date of first delinquency being more than 5 years ago (I live in NY where the rule is paid in full collections of 5 years or more must be deleted), even though the account was settled for less than the full amount.  This was accomplished by requesting a dispute through Transunion over the phone.

I did the same for Experian, and Experian has refused to delete the record, and has just updated it to say settled, paid for less than full balance.

What should my next steps be to have the record deleted from Experian?  I have to believe that it is possible since Transunion was able to get it done.

Any suggestions?

I’ve read through the CSM guide several times, but I really didn’t see any that stood out as a preferred product for those with bad credit, and trying to rebuild their record. Does anyone have any suggestions, or know if there are certain services better for those trying to rebuild? Currently I use creditscore.com, and I really don’t like their format or layout at all… it just seems like it could be a lot easier to navigate, and that they could get rid of a lot of useless pages. The plus about it is, I had a dispute with an attorney collection agency, and it was processed and I received an email about 7 days later saying that this particular collection would be deleted from my profile.

Part of the reason I ask is because I just saw that through my BBRWZ MC, I can sign up for CreditKeeper for $9.95/mo. that I believe offers everything CreditScore.com does… or everything that I need for the moment at least.
