I will be graduating in the summer and have been looking into the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLFP). Â I will be graduating from a doctoral program. Â Upon entering the program, I consolidated all of my undergraduate Direct Loans (Stafford subsidized and unsubsidized) with Nelnet. Â I currently have Direct Loans (Stafford and Graduate Plus) which are would be included in the PSLFP. Â Is it possible to include the Nelnet consolidated loans into this program since they were originally Direct Loans?
The below URL is revelaing as to how the financial power brokers benefit from TARP when selling a “short sale” to the public. If this is what the Feds intended it is a disgrace. If this is an example of big government programs leading to unintended consequences it is a disgrace. Anyway you slice it is a disgrace. And as a conservative independent registered voter I am a strong proponent of a free market system. But when the government intervenes – Katy bar the door!
Â
I received a notice from the county of Los Angeles that my Citi Bank card has been referred to a 3rd party CA for collection.
Â
This is now a public record on my account.
Â
What’s the best way to pay this off and attempt to get this off my credit report. Meaning all of the CA’s, Citi and off my public record?
I have been researching and working hard on rebuilding my credit this last year, though I admit I should not have had the problems in the first place. I hope someone can take a look at my current situation and offer solutions to guide me in the right direction as what I thought I was doing was working but a recent report has shown my score dropped off again.
Â
I’m 24 and currently an unemployed student who ran wild with credit cards the first 2 years of school before I realized what I had done. I recently applied for an auto loan which I was approved for and now have 1 year of on-time payments being reported with another 4 years to go on that loan. I also have 2 credit cards with low balances which are both standard credit cards and 1 store-specific card that has a high limit and currently a high balance that I am working to get down. I believe my credit usage ratio right now is about 77%. I also have student loans on my credit report which are reported as 8 individual loans from the federal government (no private loans). In addition to that, as of 11/2008 I was issued a judgment by one of my credit cards which I recently satisfied. Is there anything I can do about the public record to lessen it’s impact on my score?

Target (open) <<  Chase (Paid)                                          Chase (Derogatory)                                                                    DTE (closed)                                                DTE (Derogatory  My first question with the above accounts is should I dispute with the reporting companies that have the wrong account status? For instance, Transunion has HSBC as Derogatory but Experian reports as transferred, should these just say Paid as agreed and be closed? Other accounts report open with one or two and then closed with the third, all these accounts should be paid off and closed, I paid them all last year and earlier.  My Next question is about my total accounts being reported. I’m not sure what to do from here to help my score, there is so much junk on my report where I thought I cleaned it out for the most part, there are still old pieces of information hanging around. The following are the accounts in question and I would like to know what I can do to maybe move forward in cleaning these up:  Transunion Hol. Video           $146        opened    10/2010 (Not mine actually, possible Id theft from lost wallet) RJM                           $779        opened    05/2008 (Also reports to Experian) Russell Col.       $159      opened    05/2006 (Reports to all 3) Portfolio Recov.       Paid      opened    08/2008 Equifax reports this as Derogatory, should I dispute? AT&T              $173      opened    08/2010 (Reports to all 3) Midland Col.       Paid      Opened   06/2009  Equifax reports Derogatory, should I dispute? RJM (target)        paid       opened   10/2008 Reports Trans, Exper Medical Bill        paid       opened    03/2006 Reports all 3 Cap 1             paid       opened    11/2008  Public Record  I know I should pay the past due collections before anything, aside from the Hol. Video which was not mine but needs removed. But those other pieces are all reporting with different dates and different status issues on each report, I’m just not sure how to move forward with cleaning that up to improve my score.  The Midland company is reporting my account status as 120+ past due thought he balance is paid off and was paid as agreed. The Portfolio company is reporting the exact same and is also paid off and paid as agreed.  Basically I really don’t know where to begin or if anything I do will have any impact on my score at this point with everything being reported in pieces.
Ok…I paid mostly all of my debt off last month. Paid off one credit card, Paid off one that is less than 7% of my Debt Ratio. I was so wicked syked…then I get an alert that my credit score dropped by 17 points. I did a side by side comparsion from last month and the new Credit Score and I found that on my recent report: My huge collection was gone, and my Revolving Account debt ratio decreased by $610.00 because I was paying money towards them last month.    Nothing else changed in the Inquiries nor do I have anything in my Public Records. In the past when I lowered my Debt Ratio, paid off Collections and things dropping from my accounts my points use to go up…now they are going down when I did the “right thing” IMHO.
Â
I need some expert opinions because this has made me very upset :smileymad: and baffled at the same time.Â
Hello all,
Â
So it appears that Experian is no longer offering a FICO score to the public so may I ask what is the score that you can pay for through the Experian website?
Â
Â
This is a triple advantage score from the Experian website available for a $1. If this is not your true score why would Experian be selling it?
Â
Thanks!
Â
a collection is not on your public record section, but a judgement is correct?        also, arrow financial has been sending various CA’s after me (by mail and phone) the past couple of years, but none ever posted a collection on my report  (only arrow financial, but not under “collections”) but NCO just posted a collection for an old elec bill….. think arrow might not have a lot of proof or material to validate? (its an old card that isnt offered anymore).
Hello,
Â
I will be receiving a Warrant of satisfaction from the attorney that represented Discover Card bank which is the only baddie on my report originally filed 06/04.
Â
If I send the Warrant of satisfaction to all the credit reporting agencies, will this remove the public record? This is in New Jersey.
Â
Thanks!
So, I know that freecreditreport.com doesn’t actually give you a FICO score… I realize that. BUT here’s the perdicament:
Â
I pulled my myfico scores both EQ and TU this week (twice, lol I had a jump and I couldn’t wait to see it
. I’m sitting at 626 EQ and 609 TU with a major baddie on it that’s gonna be paid this week (Public record for tax lien).Â
Â
Again, I KNOW that freecreditreport.com doesn’t give you actual FICO scores BUT the freecreditreport doesn’t show the public record reporting. In fact, it says I have no public records. My freecreditreport.com score is a 640 for EX with no public record. Is this accurate at all?
Â
THANKS!!!!!!
I’ve been hard at work for the past two years trying to clean up my Experian report. Currently, I have a collections account whose original creditor is the public library! The collections account has been reporting since the end of 2008. At the time, it was the least of my concerns ( a balance of $100). I wasn’t aware that I even had fines, since I received no notice or letters (don’t use the library very often). I decided to DV the collections agency and all it did was update the account on EXP. I’m a little peeved that this happened, but am not sure of what step to take next. Here are my two options:
Â
1) Contact the public library and see if they can still take the account out of collections– if they even still have me as a user.
Â
2) Wait the remaining of the 30 days for the collection agency to contact me and then write a letter to Experian
Â
3) any other suggestions?
Â
Thanks.
