My husband score sits at 580. It used to be in the mid 600′s and then we did a modification (although we had never missed a payment) and during our trial period BOA marked his credit as 120 days late! And as I said we had never been late. WE fought and they then took the most of it off the CR but a 30 day late still was on there. As of 2 weeks ago we got a notice saying this would also be coming off. So, my question is this has been on his CR since June 2010. Will he get back some of the points he lost?

These things have also changed:

  • Paid off 2 Credit Cards totalling: $900.00. We still have Home Depot $1,100 total balance of $1,500. – This card will be paid off once tax $$ comes in – sometime in the next 4-6 weeks. The cards after that will be: Chase: We owe $2,000 out of $2,400 and Citi Card: We owe $5,000 of $5,200. I know balances are way too high…looking to increase payments and have these paid off by December.
  • DH has 30 day late March 2010 and also 1 paid collection account from June 2006.

I need your advice.. I paid a redlight enforcement ticket that was posted on my credit report.  I am very upset about this my points dropped -100 and I had no collections before.

The letter they mailed me states  “PLEASE CONTACT US SO YOUR CREDIT RECORD MAY BE CLEARED FOR THESE UNPAID CITATIONS”

So when I called to get them cleared from my report the representative said ” on no we just mark paid it stays on your credit report for 7 years”

But the statement above says it will clear it correct?

I am attempting to get a home loan and I am only 23 points away from being approved.  I only have a couple of old collections on my record but the last time I paid off several old collections it caused my score to go down almost 100 points and it took almost a year to get 1/2 the points back.  My lender recommened paying the collections only if the collector agreed to delete them once they were paid but the collector indicated they are not allowed to remove things from your credit record.  I do not mind paying these off if it will help my score but I can not risk my score dropping when I am so close.  Also are there any tips to get my score up just a little?

I am considering a FHA loan. I would like to avoid mortgage insurance if at all possible. Am I allowed to put 20% down or get a piggy back loan for 10-15%? Basically, I’m not sure if a FHA or conventional loan is best.

First-time homebuyer
Credit = 725ish
Pre-qualified for $80k
Probably getting a $70k home.

Please give me some advise. Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to pick up a new cash back / points card as I am not very happy with the ones that I have.

Based on the following information, what would you recommend I apply for:

Equifax Score – 777

Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp (Car Loan): Owe roughly $20,000 (current)

Direct Loans (student loans): $22,000 (in repayment, current)

Capital One Platinum: $5,000 credit line

Chase: $17,000 credit line

Citi Premier Pass: $11,300 credit line

Citi Platinum Select: $10,500 credit line (currently have about $1,000 on this, 0% APR until end of May)

Best Buy Store Card: $3900 credit line

Guitar Center Store Card: $10,000 credit line

Lowes Credit Card: $7400 credit line

All of them are reporting $0 balances except for the Citi Premier Pass (I pay in full every month) and the Citi Platinum (will pay off by May).

What I’m looking for is a cash back / points card to replace my Premier Pass and Cap One Platinum. Both of these cards off me a point per dollar spent on most purchases, and I have to have about 10,000 points on each of them just to redeem a $100 gift card (which I use for my everday purchases and save the $100 I would have spent otherwise).

What cards are worth applying for? Which cards have each of you been happiest with?

Thanks in advance, and I really love these forums – lots of great advice for everyone!

I have my records, an accident and a ticket, I think this is it. Are of another accident, this is not my fault, I had one vote, one vote. I have my license points, but do not know how many. I want to know a lawyer on the ticket rather than pay to reduce it. My insurance is up crazy: 300 yuan + 1 month. I can not do, so my rent and car payments. There are some in quick can I get my insurance is reduced? Driving class or what? It’s really too late to decline?

If you drive a car hit one of insurance and liability insurance must pay insurance for your car insurance company? Also, if you do not have insurance, and get in the non-fault accident, you must pay for other vehicles, because you do not have insurance?
