Ok. n00ber here. Lurking for a year. great site . Lots of smarties around …. sooooooooo….

Here’s the deal. I ‘ab’used credit in my early 20′s like candy. I lost my job in ’00. Found one a yr later in 2002 but was so underwater that I stopped paying every creditor by late 2002. Tired of the OL charges Late charges.. never ending battle.  In 2004, Providian (Palisades LLC)  tried to sue me for $7k . I replied to them that I would show up in court (per my lawyer ). I received a letter 2 weeks later that they weren’t going to pursue it HOWEVER “they may follow up with me at a later date and will not just drop the matter”. Late 2008 , providian fell off my CBR.

Over the last year, my score has increased from 473 to 586.  I have been working hard over the last 3 yrs to preserve my credit and am now starting to see the fruits of my fiscal discipline. In 11/2009, Palisades sends me a letter “here is the debt verification that you requested” . Inside were 3 billing cycles statements from late 2002 early 2003. I didn’t request any DV. Weird. So, I blew it off. Thinking it was a bait letter. Within the last week, I have now received a call from Palisades and also received a billing notice to payoff “my debt”.   WTF ???

Also, Bankfirst was a creditor that dropped off the CBR in 2006. Now, Palisades send me a 30 day debt collection letter. Another creditor, Orchard Bank,  fell off in mid 2008 and some atty/ firm wants to collect on that. They also sent me a 30 day collection letter.  All letters sent within last 15-20 days.

Is it coincedence, is this a new wave or did I set off red flags because my score is improving ?  Also, how would you handle these creeps.  I believe these are all SOL…. just hopin I am not SOL !!!!!!

Thank you your time and hopefully response(s).

I have a Judgment on my Credit from Palisades Collection LLC.  This Judgment  was filed December 2005, and awarded by the judge in February of 2007.   The credit card that I had in the late 1990′s (I believe)  was through Providian Bank, which is no longer in existance.  They were bought out by Washington Mutual, which has now been bought out by Chase.  I contacted Chase today and of course they have no information on the card.  They said that I could fax them a detailed correspondance including my name, address, ssn… I’m trying to find out the dates that the card was open/used, because I believe that the collection agency may have been past the SOL at the time that the judgment was filed.  Which direction should I go- what if I can’t get the card dates/info?  What if I do get the card dates/info and it was past the SOL, should I contact Palisades and get them to remove?  Or should I contact an attorney?   I looked online about settling with Palisades, however I saw many complaints of individuals who settled and have yet to have their credit updated, nor have they received anything in writing from Palisades showing an accepted settlement, and many are also stating that Palisades is still collecting even after the agreed settlement.  Please provide some guidance!  Thank You in advance!

Hi,

I will be applying for an fha home construction mortgage in July 2010.  There are a couple of issues that I’d like to get cleaned up on my credit report in order to raise my score before I apply.  I’m not sure how to proceed or if I should just leave it alone in case of making it do more harm than good.

I would really like to get this off of my credit report, it’s being reported wrong and has been paid for a couple of years.  Also, it is not 120+ days past due.  The one thing I don’t’ want to do is make it worse since it seems that Palisades reports this as verified on a monthly basis,, computer generated I’m sure.  I went through the steps of trying to have it all corrected without any luck a couple of years ago.  Hence, consumer disputes after resolution on Equifax report.

Any suggestions on how I should handle this derog on my credit file.  I am worried that the 120+ days past due is still hurting my fico scores even though it has been paid for at least two years.

Thanks!!

So I sent off a huge batch of PFDs to about 5 different collectors.  I had only heard back from two of them, both not helping much.  They offered me settlements, but with no guarantee to PFD.

I then noticed when I pulled the two reports from MyFico this evening, the same collections from Palisades (OC was AT&T) on my free report that I pulled at the end of December were gone from the MyFico report.  Could this really be possible?  I used the sample letter on these boards.  I’ve gone through these reports I got tonight with a fine-toothed comb and cannot find the Palisades collection that was on my reports from last year.  This collection was supposed to drop off in August, 2010, so I’m sure it wasn’t a huge bump to my score.

Anyway, I hadn’t read of this happening yet.  Has anyone seen success with just writing a PFD that they will just delete from the CRAs?

Ok, I have a judgement, I was never served. Just got a letter in the mail. What do I do? Do I PFD or GW? Also do I do this to the CA who put the judgement on my credit or the OC? The balance is still being reported by the OC and the CA? Please advise.

This is a Best Buy acct which Palisades purchased…

Thanks in advance,
