How long does it take for a paid collection to come off your credit report? Is there anyway that you can speed up the process? And how much does your score improve after having them removed? Thanks
I have a paid collection on my report from the Paper shop advertising. I sent a gw letter to ask if they would remove it from reports, then on Jan 19th I got a call from the oc and they said they would remove it and that it will take 30-45 days to come off reports. I called them again last week when it was just over 45 days, they said that there part was done they told the credit bureau’s to delete and was out of there hands now. How long does it take for the credit bureau’s to remove the items? It has just about been 60days since the oc agreed to delete this collection.

Can anyone tell me what a “neutral remark” for a studen loan (rehabbed, but currently marked as “paid collection”)Â would be? I know that the tradelines themselves will live on my report until the 7 years are up, but I’m wondering if there’s maybe something I could suggest they put into the comments field, instead (this is for the gw letters I’m working on).

I have one paid collection on my credit report (the only negative on there). My friend is an attorney and wrote up a DV letter for me (thought I couldn’t do that since it shows ‘paid’, but whatever – and a GW letter didn’t work).Â
Â
My DV letter asked for several items:
Â
Identify the original creditor;
Explain what that collection item was for;
Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe;
Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe;
Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account
Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state (California)
Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent
Â
The CA sent me a letter that did not include any of what was asked for. The only thing they said was that it was paid and shows as paid on my credit report.
Â
My friend now says that she can send a second letter to them outlining that they have violated FCRA, and that it will work to delete it once it’s sent to the CRAs as well. I do trust her, but I’m a little weary as well. Do you guys have any input? Thanks so much.
I’ve read several times on here that if you have already paid a debt in full, your only option for removal is to GW. Why is that? Why can’t you offer additionaly money to have the item deleted? Is it considered some sort of fraud if you don’t owe anything more on the debt to try to negotiate PFD? Are they prohibited from collecting the money if there is nothing more owed?
Â
I’m asking because my fiance has a paid collection that we have tried to GW without success. We paid in full before learning of the PFD option.
Hi !
Â
I would like to try to buy a home next year and am looking for some advice.
Â
My credit started out as a “bad 509″ but I’ve been slowly raising it (currently 656) but I have a collection that I just paid and the debtor agreed to remove it so it will be removed soon. I have a very small unpaid dept from 2005 that I made arrangements to pay (they wont’ remove it but said they remove after 1 year).
Â
Here is my current situation
Â
$132 library bill, 2005, paying this week
$1,400 collection account (paid; to be deleted)
I have a paid collection from December that I paid in December before they put on my credit report and they told me that it was not on my credit so I am disputing it.Â
Â
Paypal credit card that had a 30,60,90,120 days late in past year ($500 limit) that I paid off recently and asked them to close. (i quess that wasn’t a good idea). Can i do a goodwill letter to them?
Â
Visa credit card w/ $500 limit from my credit union – zero balance for 2 years.Â
Â
Car loan @ credit union – never late
Â
Chevron gas card $800 limit – zero balance
Â
2 old car loans w/ credit union – never late.
Â
Currently in grad school w/ about 56K in student loans that won’t be due until the time I pay off my car loan and finish school.
Â
Questions are:Â
Â
how much will my score move when 1 collection gets deleted and the other marked paid (one from 2005)?
Â
Should i ask for increases on my Chevron card (had for about 18 months) and VIsa card to build higher limits? (i don’t plan to use them unless maybe to make a small purchase and pay it off)
Â
What else can/should I do?
Â
Thank you in advance!!!
Â
I’m excited to have come from a 509 – 656 but I still have some work to do.

How do you find out the email
or address to ceos? Â Im trying to get a paid collection off my report from mediacom and i’m having no luck from corporate or cusgtomer service.
Hi everyone! I just wanted to share my experiences, since this board has helped me immensely in the last month to improve my credit. It’s bad for several reasons (job loss, marriage problems, raised without fiscal common sense), but I finally decided to take charge of my own finances.
Â
I almost signed up with a credit repair firm because I’ve always relied on someone else to look after these things. But b/c of the members here, I got a whole lot more done on my own in less than 30 days than they were going to do in 3 months.
Â
My EQ myFICO on 12/06/10: 468
My EQ myFICO as of 01/05/11: 509
Â
Yeah it’s still bad. My report is as bad as you can get without having a bankruptcy, judgement, or public record!
Â
Thanks to all of the education I’ve received from here, I managed to remove a a paid collection (Diversified Adjustments) and one old collection (NCO Financial) that was due to fall off of my reports this year. I’m still struggling with a small AFNI debt, as they have not responded to my PFD offers, but it’s due to fall off my reports in 2012.
Â
I also have many charge-offs that are (unfortunately) more recent. I decided to arrange payment plans for all of these before they were sold to collection agencies. One of them was actually sold to a CA shortly before I started getting involved in my own finances, so I wanted to prevent that from happening with the others. Since these charge-offs were all from 2009, I didn’t think I had a lot of leverage to negotiate PFD.Â
Â
Since then I’ve been able to get a new credit card with Orchard Bank ($320 limit), a secured card through Public Savings Bank ($500 limit), and I do have a Barclays with iTunes card ($250) from my better days that I was able to hold onto.
Â
I still have a long way to go before I reach my goal, but I know that the most important thing I can do now is build a good history and wait.
Thanks myFICO!
Â
I’ve seen a few instances where GW letters get a paid collection deletion from the Good ol’ CMI group.
Â
Could anyone who has addresses, both email and snail mail please PM them to me? They’re my LAST hurdle!!!
Â
Thanks All.
