ok,
Â
I have one collection that I’m trying to get rid of. Its relatively recent, DOFD is 5/09. amount is only 174.
Â
First question is -Â the OC is an allergy office – would this fall under medical (hipaa)?
Â
Â
now, when i first saw it on my reports, I sent a PDF letter to the CA, they sent back valid DV info.Â
Â
I then spoke to OC office and I still have the option to pay the OC office, but the lady in the office said she didnt know anything about pulling account back and asking to stop reporting.
Â
Sent another PFD letter to CA that explained that I received their info, but am still willing to work with them if they remove it. I also mentioned that I have the option to pay OC directly and bypass the CA (thinking this may prod them to want to make a deal if I pay them).
Â
I receved a call from CA, which I had not received anything from them in months. I thought this may be in response to my latest PFD attempt, so I called them back (I know I know, never talk to them…).  Anyway, the lady I spoke with was very polite and friendly, but she did try to say that a paid collection reports much better than an unpaid collection, to which I respectfully disagreed. Bottom line is that she said they would not be able to remove from report. I didnt pay on the phone, explaining that I needed to speak with my “financial advisor” again.Â
Â
my next step is to send a PFD letter to OC office and see if they will pull back the account and ask CA to stop reporting.
Â
Â
If the OC does not agree, I was wondering if it is worth it to keep pursuing CA with PFD or if anyone has dealt with ACEI collection agency and had any positive results.
Â
Also, my first question above, if this is HIPAA, then maybe I’m going about it the wrong way?
Â
any help is appreciated.
Â
thanks.
