I know the HIPAA process is no longer discussed here, but this situation is a little different and I am looking for some advice.  Up until about 2 months ago, I had a medical CA on my report from an emergency room visit I had a while back (very confusing billing led to missing one of the bills).  Anyway, the CA suddenly disappeared unexpectedly about 2 months ago.  About 1 month ago, I received a dunning letter from a different CA for the same bill.  This new CA is not reporting (yet).

What is the best way to keep this from showing back up on my reports.  I can pay the bill now, but I want to do it in a way that will prevent it from reporting.  Since the CA is not reporting, I can’t really use the standard HIPAA process.   If I pay the OC, I am afraid that the CA will not find out and report anyway.  I would be able to get them to update to “paid” in that case, but, as we all know, a “paid” CA really doesn’t help at all.

Is there a way that I can pay the OC in a manner that would make it so that the CA couldn’t report?  Kind of like the HIPAA process, but without the first round of letters to the CRA?  Or, should I just pay the new CA before they report (with a written agreement that they won’t report if I pay)?  Or would contacting the CA ruin the possibility of following the HIPAA process later if they do end up reporting?

I just went on credit karma and updated my report to see my score since opening Barclays Air Tran card last week. It came back and said my uti is down to 19% from 22%. And that my AAoA is up to 6 years and 1 month. And it was 1 year 9 months before getting card. I checked transunion my fico report and barclays is not reporting opened date. Will my aaoa stay like this or will it go back down? Please help. My score shot up to 712 from 676. Thanks Michael

Chase charged off my debt and CA Machol & Johannes came after me, backed me into a corner and coerced me to agree to a monthly payment of $100 for 85 months. OC is reporting the charge off to the bureaus and Machol and Johannes is not reporting that I am making monthly payments (so far $900 has been paid, each month on time). I thought this would help my credit, but it has not.

What can I do?

I made an agreement with a colection agency. They were willing to settle and then put paid in full on my credit report, not settlement. The problem is the collection company that offered me the agreement is not reporting on my credit report. They are a subsidary of the company reporting on my credit. I sent them an endorsed check with the agreement on the back of the check saying if this is cashed you have to update credit with paid in full. Now Im disputing this and all the credit beareaus are saying that is not suffcient enough they need something from the collection agency which is saying that it has been settled not paid in full. How do I fight this because I have the agreement on back of the check showing payment.

Okay, so here’s my newest question (I seem to have quite a few today). I have a collection from VZW. I DV’d them, and they came back with proper information. I then tried a PFD, which they declined. I have now received a letter from BCR, which I’ve read a bit about on here. Some have said they’ve DV’d them, and BCR folds. If they’re not reporting yet, should I wait until they report to EQ before I DV or PFD them? And if/when BCR reports, does that mean VZW’s will disappear? Not sure how that works. Thanks.

Hello, what a great resource this forum has been. I was hoping to get input on any options I may have with paid collections and chargeoffs not reporting as paid as agreed… If that’s even possible. I have 18 collection accounts that have all be paid, but 10 still report as bad debt or past due with a 0 balance.

I am currently working towards a 640 score to get a mortgage. last month my FICO was at 582 (from myfico), I have 4 small $500 limit cards opened 1 year ago with $0 balances, I also just paid off another line of credit through a tire dealer. I have not had a late in over a year reported nor any new collections. As it stands once my reports update I should have no or minimal utilization which I’m hoping will move my score in the correct direction.

Do I have any hope in working with the original collection agencies that have been paid to remove the accounts through GW letters or another means?

Thanks much, I know time is the best measure to improve my score, but I’d like to do all I can to hurry it along.

i tried buying my scores here but according to myfico i dont have a credit score because of no open accounts  :(       i applied for a capitol one credit card monday and was approved for 300.00. i am an AU on one of my moms accounts it is not reporting though.   does anyone know how long it takes before i would have a fico score?  i would like to apply for one more card just so i have two open accounts, just not sure where to apply at yet.
