I have a medical bill from 2008 (under $100) from an ER visit.  I paid it online directly to the OC (hospital), but I did not pay it until approximately June 2009.  I never received any documents from the OC stating the payment was misdirected .  It showed up on my credit report under 1 collection agency (CA) in 2010; then, I disputed it and it was deleted.  However, this medical collection that I’ve already paid directly to the OC has recently shown up on my March 2011 credit report under a 2nd CA called Pinnacle Financial Group.  Note, I have not received any phone calls and do not believe I’ve received any letters in the mail fron Pinnacle.  This has adversely impacted my credit score by almost 40 points.

From what I’ve read and my understanding of FCRA, attempting to collect a debt and reporting it to CRA is illegal.  Is this correct?  I have disputed this and awaiting a response.  However, what rights will I have if EQ, TU or EXP do not delete it from my credit report?  Also, what is the statute of limitations (SOL) for a CA to attempt to collect debt on a medical bill in North Carolina?  What’s so frustrating is that my credit score that I’ve been working on for a couple of years has fallen from 620 to 584 as a result of this collection recently being reported on my credit profile.

I am considering filing a complaint to State Attorney General’s Office from which Pinnacle is HQ’d.

TIA!

I know this question has been asked before and I’ve read these boards up and down, but I’m afraid I still don’t exactly understand how this works. So here is my question. I had several stafford loans through the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority. I defaulted and I was in default status for over 3 years. I recently entered a rehab program. After nine months I will be rehabed through the collection agency (DCS) and then my loans will go back to the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority. I don’t have to find a new lender like some. NC takes them back if they are rehabed.

Question is. What happens to my credit report? The default status goes away, but what about all the years of late/no payments. Do they still show? The loans aren’t going to a new bank/lender like some people’s. They are going back to the original lender. What will my credit report look like? I know it will be better, but how much?

After I’m rehabed, I plan to make the required amount of on time payments and then consolidate. I have no idea if that will help my credit, but the lower payment will help me? Thoughts? Suggestions?

The rehab payment is steep, but I’m looking forward to putting this behind me and starting over. I’ve worked hard on my credit and these defaulted student loans and one credit card late payment in 2008 are my only blemishes left. I have removed errors and goodwilled all kinds off crap off my credit report.

Thanks for any insight or advice.

Got a letter today that was from Total Card Inc on behalf of North Star Capital Aquisition for an account that I haven’t paid on since April 2004. It has actually rolled off my credit report.

I’m really trying to protect my credit now by doing the right thing but I don’t know what to do here.

Any thought?

That I do not know but I can say this Obama is trying but he’s met with resistment from all angles. Everyone is saying he’s not doing a good job but remember he didn’t make this mess. so he needs more time and help. no one is complaining about all the bull gthe Bush administation caused. he’s the reason we’re in these wars. there was no weapons of mass destruction just greedy ole republicans and the USA being a bully. The real problem is North Korea and you see Bush didn’t mess with them because of China so quit putting everything on Obama and think about how we got in this mess to begin with

Hi. Quick introduction: my credit repair began in July of this year after being tired of dreaming about buying a house. Being 30 years old, and a renter, made me realize I needed to do something. So I did. I first signed up for a credit repair company to fix my problems, and within the first month, I cancelled. I should have done some research BEFORE signing up, but oh well…can’t change that now.  I have been semi successful in the last 3 1/2 months.  I’ve had several “popular” CA’s removed, so I hope I will be able to help with what I have done.

I would like to recap what I have remaining on my 3 credit reports and what my plan is for each one, and maybe if one of you has some additional advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I am not sure if I can post the CA’s names or not, so for now I will be safe and “hide” them.

I have one secured CC that I opened last month, currently at $450 credit limit, plan on increasing when I can until it’s at $1000

When I began, my FICOs were in the LOW 500′s. I’m in the mid 500′s now. I have had ALOT removed, but most were old accounts.

So if anyone has any advice for me, I would sure appreciate it!

Hi All,

I posted here a few months ago when I got a call from Allied saying that I “defrauded” HSBC and was being sued.  Turns out this was a complete scam.  Basically this company goes around calling looking for you and when they get you on the phone are rude, pushy and seriously violate the FDCPA.  After doing some internet research it seems like Allied Legal Services has done this to a number of people.  They do not accept mail in payments, but instead ask for your checking account information to process a payment or make a payment plan.

I am looking into suing these guys for FDCPA violations, but cannot find ANY information on them whatsoever.  They claim to have corporate offices in North Carolina and offices in Jacksonville, Florida but I haven’t found anything to support that.

Does anyone out there have info on these guys?  I should note, that I do not believe this is Allied Interstate (another CA with a bad rep for violating the FDCPA) but rather Allied Legal Services.

Thanks so much!
