I am curious if NFCU does a hard pull just for opening a checking/savings account?  If so, here is my current situation:

  1. Currently Deployed
  2. Active Duty Alert on all 3 CRA (No contact number listed on alert)
  3. No current phone number (unless NFCU can call DSN :) )

So… will they pull for membership or does applying online go smoothly?  Also, if they do pull for membership, can you use the same pull for other products? Thanks!

Hello myFICO community,

Im a veteran and I want to purchase a home for around 150000. However, with a FICO score averaging 565 that’s not going to happen anytime soon. I have approx.20 baddies on each of my reports. The worst being 3 judgments, 2 paid off through garnishments and 1 remaining unpaid,2 repos that are looking to settle for a total of 3000, a NFCU credit card at 2500, and a few cellphone bills. Of all these collections, 0 are within SOL. I have paid all my current debts on time for about two years now and I haven’t seen any change in score like the FICO simulator said. I have 3 credit cards, one with credit union that is secured at 1000.00 limit and two rebuild cards at 500 and 300 limits. I have a car loan that’s paid off in 3 months and a secured loan for a 1000.00, and a deferred student loan of 18000. I figured that I could probably PFD all the collections for 5000, but that was when the majority of the debts were within SOL. I was hoping I could PFD for less than that now. I have about 400.00 a month towards delinquent debt repayment, what should I do to get my score headed in the right direction. Also, the only debt I have is the 1000 secured credit card which is very close to the limit and the student loan that ill begin repaying next month. Do I save every penny I can over the next 2 years or try and PFD every collection I can for pennies on a dollar? Thanks

Is there a score watch product for TU like there is for EQ?  Or is the quarterly one the only product available?  I have Score Watch for EQ (my score jumped 34 points in the last week… maybe from the cable CA deletes(?) … or I also paid off a closed (but in good standing) CC with NFCU.

Which report do most banks, credit unions, retailers, use?

NFCU has partnered with Equifax and is offering it’s members good discounts on all of EQ products.  I am subscribed to Equifax Credit Watch Gold in which one of the perks is unlimited credit reports.  I am waiting on two important updates to my report any day now, and would like to know if I will be penalized for pulling my reports daily?  I don’t want to be blacklisted for misuse because I really am not. Any advice?

I’ve been a member since January-10 and initially wanted to wait until the end of the year to apply for a cc and navcheck loc.  I have paid down a nice chunck of my cc debt but still have around 45% util on my revolving debt.  I currently have 12 accounts with 6 reporting zero balances and all 12 are being paid as agreed, no lates.  I have 4 inquires in the last 12mos and none after may.  I have (1) CO and (1) 120 days, both date back to 2003 and will be deleted in December.

I redecorated two rooms in my house last year and racked up several thousand dollars in debt under a promotional zero payments and zero finance plan from three different stores but now it’s time to pay the piper and I didn’t pay the balances as planned and all the interest will have acrued since the purchases, these are store cards so the interest rates are ridiculous!  My purpose for wanting to apply now for nfcu cc and/or navcheck loc is to move the debt to one card/loc with a much lower APR.  My EQ score is currently 647 but I am terrified to apply because the creditor I have the two delinquencys with is "Alliant CU", I know I screwed up big time but I was in my mid 20′s and lost my job when I let those accounts go bad.  I’m afraid that nfcu will see that I had a bad credit relationship with another cu and deny me.  However, I really do need to move this debt to a lower APR so, do you think I have a chance of an approval?

I Just called to ask questions about opening a FlagShip card, So I can earn some points, some rewards. The lady I spoke to was by far the most helpfull customer service rep I think I have ever spoke to. She answered my questions and gave me some advice on when I needed to apply for the Flagship card.

Then She asked about my Cash rewards card and getting a CLI, she explained that it was a soft pull and that It would that a few mins and answer a few questions.  This card was opened with a $2500 limit 6 months ago.  I got a CLI to $7000.00.  Makes for a good day. I will be applying for the FlagShip card this coming Fri.

I just opened a savings account with NFCU, I want to apply for a personal loan but I would also like to apply for the cashrewards card but I am scared to. My fico is 715 with EQ I just checked it today. My credit history says 2 years. I have 6 accts, 2 accts with balances, 4 opened in past year 1 recent inq (total of 2), no baddies, what are my chances. I’ve seen people on here get high limits with scores lower than mine. I don’t want to ruin my chances at the personal loan with them if I apply for a CC. Should I wait til after i apply for the loan?

I want to apply for a personal loan with NFCU I have good scores but short history depending on who they pull. EX has an old account from 1995.

What kinda of scores & credit history do you need to qualify?

Ok here goes..I have way too many cc’s..all rebuilders from a BK in 2001.

They will all have a zero balance by end of next week…I plan on joinign NFCU through son & dil and would like to apply for their visa card. Am I better off closing these cards before I apply, after I’m approved or talk to a loan officer first to guide me. Last I checked the fico scores were around 680..no lates or baddies except for the 2001 BK when we used personel cc to cover business debt instead of just throwing in the towel….

My cards:

Merrick

Applied

Cap one two cards

Household two cards  zero balances

Household Discover

Lowes through Ge money

Credit one

Macys store card

Walmart store card

Amazon store card

Chevron zero balance\

Exxon gas…I plan on keeping open

Thanks in advance
