I sent a goodwill letter to my student loan creditor today. My loans went into default and the wages were garnished. They loans were taken out 1999 -2002, so I’m hoping they will remove the negatives. I will keep everyone posted and share the letter if it’s successful!

I had 5 baddies that got dropped off (7year mark) and my score dropped from 682 to 585.. whaaaahhH!! Is it because of those baddies since nothing else have changed other than the negatives accounts aged out.

I have 3 current accounts that are in good standing. What else can I do to regain my score back up?

Please advise.

Thats pretty much everything I would like any suggestion im new to this so please explain thank you all…

I did not know about the concept of goodwill letters until I read about it here.   I wrote and mailed goodwill letters on 11-2 for 5 companies, my problems were all late payments, no writeoffs and all these 5 accounts have been paid off.    I had two credit reports and there were different addresses for 4 companies so I simply wrote to both addresses.  I received a response from two yesterday.  HSBC credit  completely agreed to not report the late payments.  Honda Financial did not agree and said it was their duty to report all late payments even though the car has been paid off for 3 years now.

I am going to follow up with all 5 companies by phone but I have been puttting it off because I am embarassed! But I have to do it.   Per the advice I found here on myfico communities I said a lot of nice things in the letters about each company.   I also read here that sometimes companies will tell you no but they will go ahead and stop reporting the negatives.  I havent checked on that yet as I am waiting until the end of the month to buy my credit reports.

Just wanted to let this community know and to encourage others in the same situation to write the goodwill letters and make the phone calls!

I am hovering in low 600s (experian: 599, equifax 628, TU: 610) right now. I currently have 5 student loans in default. I will consolidate and pay on time soon and am working to remove other negatives. What is a resonable goal score for 12 months down the road. Is 680 crazy?

Hello,

This post is for my girlfriend, who has bad credit. She currently has 4 negative on her CR. She has collections accounts and no current credit card open. What should she do about the negatives? Should she write some letters? If so, which one and where can we find it? The high amount that she owe is $1800.

Thanks for your advice in advance.

Hey everyone,

I have two paid parking ticket collections from 2006 on my credit reports. The OC was my local circuit court and the CA is Alliance One. I understand that Alliance One is very difficult to work with, but I might give getting the negatives removed a shot anyway.

I have never tried to get anything removed from my reports before, and I’m a little unclear how to go about this. I believe (but I’m not 100% positive) that when I paid the tickets, I paid them directly to the court, not the CA. If that’s the case, could I try to get the court to get the CA to delete them? Or do I have to go directly to the CA?

If I go to the CA, would I send a DV letter first, or start with a GW letter?

Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

So im beginning to understand how goodwill letters work by reading old threads but they pretty much are all phrased or are talking about a solitary bad mark being fixed…Is it still possible to send a goodwill letter if you have many major (90+, 120+, 180+) negative marks on your accounts? How would you word it?

Basically like “hi, i went through a really bad period of time personally and financially and was just wondering if you could take off a bunch of the negatives…? k,thanx! bye!”

I dono why but im not totally sure that will work…? I have 3 accounts total in my life….all with baddies from that certain bad period…one of them is now closed but paid in full. The other two are open but definitely have some baddies…

Any suggestions about how to phrase it for this type of situation or another method to try?

thanks

I realize this may be an elementary question, but….

Which report can I get that will show when an item will drop off my report?

I got my free reports from annualcreditreport.com (all except for TU since they say I have logged in too many times, but I digress…) today and I don’t see the date my negatives will be reported until.

I have been reading (and reading!!) here and I see a lot of scenarios that say “reported until …”.

I am hoping the majority of my baddies will drop off this year, but I just want to be sure.

I also am wondering if you have any opinions of Credit Check Total. I am considering signing up for the trial to see how I like it and then continuing if I find it to be a good service. I am looking for a service that allows daily pulls and score updates.

Thanks to everyone for their input!

My goal is 750 by the end of the year.
