I’m wondering if it’s possible to have a CA trying to collect on an old debt but not have it show on my credit report. I have an old charge off on an account that I had with Chase and they are calling trying to collect but when I look at my report it doesn’t show anything is in collections. I am willing to do the payment plan they are offering me if it means it won’t show up. I’d hate to not take the offer and then it shows on my report and knocks my score even lower. Then my other question would be if I did a PFD would it erase the negative info that is being provided by Chase or would I have to send them a GW saying that I paid in full and if they would erase it since they are the OC and that’s the only thing showing on my report.

I recently started rebuilding my credit. I have gone through and cleaned up all the negative info on all three reports  I have had a new credit card for the past 4 months and always pay on time and keep the balance very low. What should I do next? My score has gone from 470 on 4-16-10 to 646 currently.

My Journey:

So I am back to square one again. I feel like this is a rat race that I will never get out of. I am blessed to have a new career and now I am able to have not one but two jobs.  My part time will be to simply pay down debt. I am determined to end this year financially more stable than what I started. We pay cash for everything now although we have some credit, I don’t want to touch it until I know I can handle it without it.

I have 18-21 accts with negative info depending on which report you look at.

Experian- 18 accounts with something neg on it

TransUnion – 19 accounts with something neg on it

Equifax – 21 accounts with something neg on it

I have a few c/o’s and collections but a lot of late pays on stuff. Oh and 1 judgement. This was during time when I was in between jobs or just depressed and decided to stick my head in the sand. My times of depression have been from a failing relationship, death of my mom and god- brother and life whipping my butt.

I am going to pray about the choices I make and know that I will be able to see the end of the tunnel soon. I am encouraged to be a great example for my young children. I will prevail in this journey. Once I start to make some progress, I will begin to chronicle the events as they take place. I know with the total number of items I have It will be hard to list them each.

I sent a PFD to a CA for an item that had fallen off of EQ, was about to fall off of EX (and since has), and is listed as coming off of TU in August.  I offered them 10% in exchange for deleting a paid TL and the item that was about to fall off.  They sent me back a bill for the full amount.  (Btw, the paid one is newer and is related to a judgment – their lawyer told me not to bother with this item because it’s past SoL & is about to fall off).  This morning, I got an alert on CCT about new potentially negative info and the alert says that there’s an updated status on this collection on EX.  I ordered the new report, and it’s not back.  Yes, I said NOT.    It still only remains on TU (for the time being).  I wonder if a PFD sent to their lawyer would work…PFD / FoAD hybrid, perhaps…

Surely this question has been asked here before but I can’t find it. Here’s the situation…I finally had a major credit card debt to expire after they’d been illegally reporting since 2000. They are no longer reporting negative info to the credit bureaus. However, a certain collection agency, who’s bought the debt, is reporting the info with an assigned date of Feb. 2007. I was sure that the collection agency could not continue collecting on a debt when the original creditor was not. The debt fell off in Dec. 2009; wasn’t the collection agency supposed to stop reporting the same negative info as well?
