My goal has always been to apply for the United Mileage Plus credit card for the bonus miles and to earn miles with my purchases. I travel a lot so the miles would be a big bonus for me. I figured that this card would require 720+ FICO score to qualify, though I don’t know exactly. Last week I applied for a Capitol One No Hassle Cash Rewards card to try and improve my credit while increasing my FICO score above 720. I figured my FICO score was still in the mid 600′s.

I disputed 3 collections on my account and one was deleted, the other two are still there but I am dealing with them now.

Today I bought my Equifax FICO score and was surprised to see a 743. I think this would be high enough to qualify for the United Mileage Plus CC. Anybody have info on this?

I have a really short credit history, I think average age of accounts is less than 2 years. But everything is in good standing, paid, student loans included. Only baddies is the 2 collections with AFNI I am trying to have deleted now. (currently in DV process).

Anyway, my worry is that since I just applied for the Capitol One CC, will my FICO score a really big hit if I apply for the United CC so soon? I know just one inquiry on my credit report won’t affect my FICO much, if at all, but multiple inquiries will start affecting it. Will I still be okay with just 2? Do you think the second will knock my FICO too low to qualify for United’s CC?

743 really surprised me. Now I’m looking to make it stronger, at least 760+ and then I might actually be able to afford a home!! What a life changer.

I’m nervous. If anybody has had experience with this situation, I’d love to hear your input.

Thanks in advance.

I want to mail letters to Miles Beacom and Dana Dykhouse – but I don’t know their mailing address. I’m pretty sure that they are not going to be on the same address as my credit report. FP has several addresses. I’ve googled so much but still can’t confirm.. I don’t want to do this via email either.

It could be 900 W. Delaware Street, Sioux Falls or it could be 601  S. Minnesota Avenue, Sioux Falls.

Does anyone know which is the right address?

thanks in advance.

Hello,

I’ve had a long road to recovery on trying to repair my credit. I’ve been using a reputable credit repair company, as well as my own hard work and knowledge to get my credit back on track. Its still not great, but I’m finally able to obtain credit cards. In the past two days, here is what I’ve gotten:

Walmart - $600

Carnival Sea Miles – $500

JcPenney – $200

Best Buy - $100

I applied for these all at the same time so that the inquiries will fall off at the same time.

The main reason that I used the credit repair company is so that they would be able to help me dispute and delete items to raise my score so that I could finally get approved for credit cards, which I have. There are still delinquencies on my credit report, but I’m thinking about just being responsible with the credit that I already have and recently obtained to prove my credit worthiness and raise my scores. My scores are as follows:

Equifax: 575

Experian: 652 (Fako)

Transunion: 620

The only delinquencies that I have are paid collections, and the credit repair company keeps disputing them, but with no success. I’m thinking that I should just save my $59 per month and just keep sending GW letters until I can’t anymore. Any advice? Thanks in advance for any advice given.

I applied for a Barclays credit card on Saturday and found out today after checking the status of my application online that I was denied. I know it was automatically generated, and it stated that it evaluated me based on numerical values based on repayment history of large numbers of customers. My FICO score is 613 as of 2/24, and probably went up because I paid down a credit card to zero balance. I have one paid collection, and a late payment from March 2009 (Jared account; account current and has a zero balance now). It also said "Insufficient credit history". I just sent a letter to them using Planetfeedback.com explaining in detail the potentially negative items listed on my credit report. It had the CEO’s name on the letter before I sent it, so I guess it going straight to him.  Should I send a letter to them via USPS to underwriting as well, or just wait on the response from PF? Does anyone have any other suggestions for another card that I can try that pulls TU? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

I am looking for a card that I can use to gain lots of points for free hotel stays and airline tix. My scores are listed below in my sig. Any suggestions out there. I usually stay at hotels more throughout the year than I do fly. Recent approvals with score could help also.

Thanks,

Trying to find a card that has no foreign transaction fees with decent reward…but when I read their rewards program description I really don’t find it attractive to me. Can anyone share some experience with Cap1 miles rewards?

Somewhere along the line I read something like this:

15,000 miles Saver (tickets up to $150)

35,000 miles Standard (tickets from $150.01–$350)

60,000 miles Super (tickets from $350.01–$600)

So if I find a ticket that’s $400, it pretty much means I will waste 20,000 miles….am I right?

For the life of me, I can’t seem to get approved for any credit cards. I just ran the fico score and it showed me 788. Amex and Citi both declined me. Chase did too, but I finally could talk to someone who went ahead and approved it after seeing my report.

The reasons I get are really silly like too low credit limits or something. Amex tells me I have too many new and then closed accounts. We did flip a few amex cards last year to get the miles. We ran them up to the max, then closed them out.

So it’s got to be some past behavior triggering a problem since I have zero debt, zero bad, etc… And amex bumped my one remaining card down to 2k credit limit.

Anyone have ideas of how to actually speak with someone at Citi about a denied app? Citi and amex both use experian so they are the problem children, but there is nothing bad to fix. Just opened and closed accounts.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
