I am looking at my debt to income ratio and my bills are considerably less than what I make per month, but it always says that my DTI ratio is too high. How would they know how much I make?

Anyone who saw my post yesterday regarding paying off all of my debt/collection accounts may have seen the last section where I mentioned an unknown tax lien that was showing up on my CR.  Well today I was able to get through to the state of New Jersey on the phone without having to go through a lengthy mail in process – and they told me that they have a record of overpaid unemployment dating back to 2004 in the amount of $5800 in my name!

Back story:

In late 2003 the company I had worked for for over 13 years went out of business – it was a family owned retail store.  My employer closed the retail store and moved out of state to Arizona to begin a new life with his family. Initially I remember when I tried to get unemployment benefits, there was an issue and some sort of issue with my right to claim being contested and I was denied.  My employer denied making a claim that I was not entitled (he was the one who gave me the info to collect!) and after a few weeks of phone interviews and an lengthy approval process I was approved and began receiving checks.  I have had several friends/family member automatically denied benefits on the first try for no reason – and it seems to me that perhaps the state of NJ does this with the hopes of some losing faith and giving up.

Anyway, from what the person on the phone said, it looks like the state tried to contact my former employer at some point regarding my benefits and had no forwarding address or contact info.  I eventually stopped receiving benefits (on schedule) with no mention of overpayment -  I had not worked or received a W2 for any other employer at all during that time I wa scollecting.  How can unemployment claim that I owe them when I was not working and collecting a paycheck?  Is anyone familiar with the process and the reason WHY they may be holding this against me?  Is my former employer supposed to be “reachable” during the time I am collecting for some sort of continuing verification process?  I wonder WHY it took them so long (until 2007) to put this on my CR?  I hope they do not make me pay this but I have to get it off my report… Supposedly an investigator is going to call me back.  They asked for my new address and phone – but wouldn’t they have had that from my Social all these year later???  SO many questions – and wondering how easy this will be to clear up quickly without having to pay or pay with some sort of settlement agreement.

I came across this site several days ago, and it has so much useful information.  To all those who take time to answer the questions of people like me, I truly would like to say thanks.

With that being said, I need guidance on two medical bills on my credit report.

  •  CA= IC Systems Inc - Amount Owed $13,332 – Charged off 7/9
  •  CA= CP Credit Management – Amount Owed $575 – Charged off 2/9

I went to the emergency room and accrued these charges.  At the time, I had insurance which should have covered this.  I am no longer with the company.

I did not know about these charges because I moved days after visiting the emergency room

Is there any type of way I could get this removed from my CR?  I doubt my former insurance company will settle this debt since it has been over a year.

If I made payment arrangements, would that increase my score?  I would only be able to commit to $50 a month.  I am living check to check (like most of us)

Any suggestions and guidance is greatly appreciated.

I have a credit card that i have several lates and missed payments on. I paid the debt off as a settlement about a month ago, and yesterday the status on my report changed to “Paid as agreed” But its still showing as a negative account, is that because of all the lates payments?

Also, I settled the debt for 30% of the original balance. Is it possible to call them and offer them the 70% as a instant lump sum to have them remove all negative information on my credit report?

I had a bill from a Radiology place that never billed my isnurance. I moved and never got bills from them. Pulled CR and seen it there from 2009 (late 2009) so I called OC they said sorry. Basically, took down my insurance information and has since billed my insurance. They called CA and told them to pull it off my CR, this was on 03-03-2010, I called CA today and they told me they did pull it from all 3 CRA’s but for some reason I have not got ANY score watch alerts for this. Does it take longer? Will this brong score up maybe?  Need 20 points to buy house…

Another thing I would like to say is that I sent off PFD’s to Health Care coll for 4 other medical bills which are approximately at the most 2 yrs old. I will keep people updated on how those go. Anyone know if getting those off my report will make score increase at all?

Sent off 2 200. checks to Orchard bank for myself and my husband for a secured credit card each, we both were pre-approved for them online, but I guess you can’t make them joint account so got one each. We have 0 DTI so I think having an account will bring up our scores some, plan on buyig hay for the hroses with them every two weeks since we spend it anyway, 60. every two weeks, pay in full each month. How long does that take to bring up scores?

I have a bad check from 2005 was bad in nov 2005, paid in december 2005 shows up in one CRA twice, once as unpaid. Think a GW would do any good getting it removed from CR? Think a phone call might do it? It was for school lunches lol, sorry but to see a middle school on my CR kinda makes me laugh even though it should not be funny. $25. Global Pay is the CA, any ideas or anyone have any luck with them? Would love for it to be as easy as a phone call ya know..

I broke down and bought a printer yesterday to get this stuff done instead of asking friends to print for me all the time lol, I think this will help things go a little faster and smoother.

By the way, I have never been on a better board for ANYTHING this truely is like a family, and I am addicted… could be a reality tv show like biggest loser ya know.. “How many did you get deleted this week?” …  “four!”       “You ARE the BIGGEST LOSER!”

Anyone hear anything about this plan Obama has to stop foreclosures?… Heard somethign about it the other day, wish I had something like that when I got furloughed, my CR wouldn’t be so bad then, they should change the time a Foreclosure can stay on your CR to help those that went through it and can’t get the help they offer now. If only it were a perfect world, I remember being in the high 700 club before my furlough.

Sorry for rambling…

Thanks all!

YOU ROCK!

Alright guys, after a job loss and getting back onto my feet. I found this forum again and ready to get back to work. Just to give a quick background of my situation- when i was 18 (in 06) i had a 720 credit score and ‘fell in love’ and ruined it all. in Early 07 my credit score was 380ish. I found this forum and in one year i managed to turn it around to a mid 450 with a BUNCH of horrible stuff still on my credit report. I than lost my job with the economy, found a new one, picked up a part time job and started to pay bills on time for the last few months and managed to save up a great deal of money too (ramen noodles!).

I have saved up about 10 grand, i checked my credit and before i start to pay anything, GW anything, PFD anything. I have a score of 519. Which frankly, sort of amazed me. When i was jobless i had a couple of old credit cards back when i was 18 go into collections so that dinged me and I thought i was going to have to start from the bottom again. So with my 10k savings and about 15k in debt, i am hoping i can negotiate, gw, and work my arse off and at the end of 2010 have a credit score of 600-650. I would like to have a score of about 620. I grew up in a real estate investment family, and one day would like to own my own little house. Fortunately for me, you can buy a house as cheap as $30,000 for a simple 1 bedroom, 1 bath, with 1 stall garage in my area.

I do have a series of judgement on my record, about 75% are paid, and they are all older than 2 years. And all my collections besides 2 are older than 2 years. Which i read if they are over a couple of years old it doesn’t really affect your credit at all. I am sure hoping i wont have to wait 7.5 years for these suckers to fall off for i can move on and buy a house in the next year or so and have a new vehicle to drive. The income is there, but not able to be budgeted and used for anything. Which in my case right now, has led me to save and now start fixing my credit.

Right now the only open line I have is a orchard bank credit card with a 200 secured balance that was at a 50-100% UTL right till i paid the sucker all off two months ago and threw it in my sock drawer.  Always had the money to do it, just never did it. I’ve cut back on everything that does cost me money (bars, clubs, ect.). My friends and family are motivating me big time. Friends are getting married, buying houses, ect. My parents are still expanding their real estate business- and that is motivating me to fix my credit profile for I to can get involved a bit more and SOON own my own house.

Cliff Notes:
Score in 06 (before love): 720
Score in 07 (after): 380ish
Score Today: 519 (ex)
Score at the end of ’10: 620

I will update weekly, monthly with what I am doing to make this happen and use this thread as a motivator as well. I found this site to be fun, and saving and paying off debt as a fun ‘game’ back when i was at it before.

Casey :)

So, I’ve been having a mental battle about what to do with my plethora of inquiries.  Almost all of them are from CAs and, it seems, are PP.  However, I have a few that ran hard inquiries two or three times in a month (same CAs).  In my opinion this is defamation and willful injury.  I have been considering the Pay Me Succa letter, with a modification for D&WI.

That’s when I discovered that several of said CAs aren’t licensed to practice in New York.  Do I have a leg to stand on with the combination of defamation, willful injury and not being licensed?

I do know all about the argument that inquiries only count for a year and go away after two.  That’s not what this posting is about.  I’m respectfully requesting no advice on that topic.  Please and thank you.  :smileyhappy:

My Credit Saga;
