Hello i recently sent out a PFD letter to Hamilton Law Group for a medical collection i accrued couple years ago. About 1 week after letter was sent out i received a letter from them stating the following

dear , Mr.. Poor soul:

This letter will confirm our previous conversation regarding the above captioned matter. Additionally this correspondence will confirm that our client is willing to accept your offer  of  xxx amount in full settlement of this matter , provided your payment is received in our office by 03/21/2011. Rest assured, upon receipt and clearance of your draft we will promptly notify our client of receipt of same, and they in return , will report to all credit reporting agencies that they may have reported the debt with that the matter has been amicably resolved . Signed off by [Edited] of Hamilton Law group

I didn’t really understand there response because of how they worded it just seems like there trying to get away from the fact that i want it deleted with my full payment

would really appreciate anyone’s  take on there response to me  let me know if more info is needed on the matter on my behalf. TY looking forward to wisdom from all directions ^^

Hello and welcome.

IMO (In My Opinion) this really won’t help you. Any notation of “settled” on your report is still a major derogatory. It doesn’t sound like they are willing to delete for payment as you requested but I might be misreading it and I’d certainly let others give their opinioons on this.

Hello All!

I was wondering if I could get some advice on my current situation…

I was out of work for most of 2010 – about 10 months to be exact – and needless to say, a lot of my bills had become delinquent and had been sent to collections. I recently began working again, but am making a little over half of what I use to make. Because of that, I opted to make settlement agreements with the CAs, one of which was a company that represented DirectTV.

Now here is the issue I am facing: I recently made a final settlement payment to the CA representing DirectTV no less than a month ago and the CA confirmed that this dept was paid in full and that it will update the Credit Bureau and DirectTV. Just this past Friday, another CA representing DirectTV called me saying that I owed the remaining balance. Naturally, I called the first agency today (I’ll call them CA 1) and told them that the remaining balance was sent to CA 2 asked them if they really did updated the status of my account. They confirmed that their records indicated that I paid my settlement in full and that I shouldn’t owe anything more to DirectTV. They advised me to call them in the event that it might be an error on their part..

The Problem: DirectTVs records indicated that I DID make the settlement payment in full, they SAW IN THEIR RECORDS that it was a settlement payment, but they told me that the settlement doesn’t matter (their words) and they will only look it as a partial payment until I pay the remaining balance. They also told me that they will continue to send my name through however many CAs they need to in order to get this debt paid. I tried my best to explain to them that this debt was settle through their agency, which they already know, but clearing that didn’t sway them.

I call CA 1 back and told them what DirectTV said. They reconfirmed and reconfirmed again that my dept was paid in full and they don’t understand why DirectTV is still trying to collect. They said that they would call DirectTV directly to find out what’s going on and they will try to get the matter settled today and that I shoul call CA 2 in a weeks time to get an update on my status. I asked them (CA 1) if I could have something in writing saying that I did, in fact, pay them and that we did have a settlement agreement, but they told me that unfortunately they can’t send me anything like that legally, and I would have to go through DIrectTV to retrieve that information.

I really need to know what I should do in this matter… Is what DirectTV doing legal? How do I obtain proof that I paid this settlement in full? Please give advise if you can. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone had success removing Credit Control Corp from their CRs??

My situation sucks. I had an old cable bill from Cox from 2007. Credit Control Corp of course listed it as TWO separate accounts on my CRs (one for cable and one for the bill).

I thought that if I paid Cox directly I could dispute with CCC and have them remove it. I was wrong. They are now showing up as paid. I sent GW letters to the higher ups at Cox and had the matter looked into for me. After several days of deliberation they declined to have the two entries removed.

I also tried to dispute with the CRAs and they all came back verified.

I am really bummed out. What should I do?

I just checked my fico and noticed that it took a hit this month from an electric provider. Planing on paying this provider off by the end of the month however I want to get this completely removed from my CR. The original date of default was on 08/10 due to my divorce I’m going through now. What steps do I need to take? I have an idea of calling the electric provider and informing them that I plan to PIF however I do need this removed from my credit report immediately however I want to ensure that this matter is resolved and about how long should it take if they agree?

I had a medical collection that I paid in full in August of 2006.  Well fast forward to today and it’s reported again in 5/2010 I called the CA and they said not to worry they reported a paid in full ?  Why report anything at all?  How do I get these knuckleheads to get rid of this? I disputed with EQ ( That’s the only one reporting) and they came back with the paid in full story.  Experian and TU deleted all info regarding this matter now how to get EQ to do the same..Any info would be greatly appreciated..

Hi All,

Hello everyone,

I was hoping to get some advised on this matter. Currently, an old department store credit card still appears on my credit report, the status of it is CLOSED but I’m wondering if I should make a request to have it taken off or even if I can. I’m not sure if it helps my FICO score or lowers it, its an account that was opened in 1997 but it shows the following information:

Opened on 7/01/1997

Payment Status: Paid, was a charge-off

History: Last reported KD on 8/2006 and OK on 9/2006

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Lupe
