I’ve been getting preapprove email about the paypal mastercard. Is it a good card? What CB they pull?

I received a letter in the mail from Juniper (iTunes Rewards) stating that they have closed my credit card account due to inactivity. I opened the account about 18 months ago and have never actually used it. Can they close my account just like that without any warning? How should I handle the situation? (Is there anything I can even do?)

Also, I know that closing credit card accounts lowers your credit score. Does anyone know how much mine will be affected?

Hello all,

Thanks to all the help from the forums I have been able recesistate a half dead credit score, and now I need help again. My scores have been the same for the last couple of years give or take a few points. I was wondering if anyone had some advice to help boost my scores up. Here’s a my situation:

Orchardbank Mastercard 2005- 1600/ 300bal statement hasn’t cut yet, and I made a payment today

Orchard Platinum Visa     2007- 1550/ $0 bal

Capital One Visa               2007-  1050/$0 bal

Macy’s charge card           2000-  1500/$0 bal

Amex Zync                          2010-         $0 bal Opening this card didn’t lower my score either

There are no inquiries on my TU report. On my EQ report there is 1 from sept and dec of 09 and 1 from mar in 2010. There is one baddie showing from 2004.

Man I am estatic right now. I just recently got denied a target red card yesterday. I was really disapointed about that until today. I just got 300 dollars buyer store credit through paypal!

I now have:

750 Applied bank card 1.7 years old

300 Paypal store credit linked through Mastercard debit

100 RZ Best buy gold card

1150 total revolving credit

I am definitely on my way to my goal. I think I can hit it in 6 months time. What do you guys think?

Also in 6months should I get another secured card with my credit union, or should I wait a year and get a regular credit card from them?

I have a question. Like many I am trying very hard to rebuild my credit.

My father has a Mastercard from 1993, no lates ever, 10K credit limit, 0.00 balance etc etc.  He was going to add me as an AU.  They did not ask for my SS# just my name.  Will this still show up on my CR?  Can I expect an increase?

Much thanks!

I used the pre approval link for the Best Buy Reward Zone Mastercard, and I was prequalified for the Gold Card with no annual fee (The no annual fee part really surprised me since I always have to pay an annual fee! I tried this link about a month ago and was only offered the secured card, so I’m very excited. I’m in the process of rebuilding my credit, especially my Experian report, which is the one they pulled). Is this a good card to apply for? I currently have a Credit One Bank Credit Card, Fingerhut, Kays, and Jared, all which have low debt to limit ratios. Should I apply for this card? Also, my TransUnion Report is a 620, and a lot of my prior creditors did not report to TU, so I don’t have many tradelines reporting on TU. Can anyone recommend a card that pulls Transunion? Thanks in advance.

Has anyone ever heard of this bank or had this particular mastercard? I’m thinking it must be subprime because it’s underwritten by HSBC.

Dear Forum,

I have an issue with my Hooters MasterCard.  This credit card had a credit line of $2,275, which I had over the limit for over a year.  I was making payments every month, with two payments returned for NSFs in 2009 (loss of job).

Anyway, I have been in contact with them over the past year to try to make sure that this account was not closed.  I asked point blank that if I kept making payments that when my account was below the credit limit would I have an account in good standing and have available credit, and each time I was told yes (have phone records).  Furthermore, my credit report pulled from FICO showed this account as open (did not print report though, like an idiot).  Finally, I was being charge each month an $8 "annual fee", which I have been charged since last year (have past statements printed).  I was told that they started charging this amount because of changes to my terms from missing a couple payments.

Well I made a large payment two weeks ago, which brought my balance to zero.  I waited patiently for the payment to "clear", but the available balance kept showing $0.  I called them today to ask what the situation was, and they told me that my account had been closed since September 2009 when I had two NSFs (not back to back).  What?

This goes against everything that has been occuring over the past year (reps telling me the account is open, being charged a monthly fee for the open account, and them reporting the account as open on my credit report).  I asked if they could reopen it, and the person stated that at this time they could not.

I just feel as if I have been deceived, especially since I have been in contact with them all this time.  I was wondering if anyone has any ideas to get this account open again, or if I should just chalk it up to experience.  I appreciate your thoughts and help.

By the way, I was not charged the $8 monthly fee for the "annual fee" after I made the full payment.

Thank you,

John
