I came across this site several days ago, and it has so much useful information.  To all those who take time to answer the questions of people like me, I truly would like to say thanks.

With that being said, I need guidance on two medical bills on my credit report.

  •  CA= IC Systems Inc - Amount Owed $13,332 – Charged off 7/9
  •  CA= CP Credit Management – Amount Owed $575 – Charged off 2/9

I went to the emergency room and accrued these charges.  At the time, I had insurance which should have covered this.  I am no longer with the company.

I did not know about these charges because I moved days after visiting the emergency room

Is there any type of way I could get this removed from my CR?  I doubt my former insurance company will settle this debt since it has been over a year.

If I made payment arrangements, would that increase my score?  I would only be able to commit to $50 a month.  I am living check to check (like most of us)

Any suggestions and guidance is greatly appreciated.

This question has two parts.

I’m in a DMP – and have been since Aug 2009. (So I’m just at 6 months now) Some of the accounts in the DMP are showing lates.  Can I talk to my Credit Counselor about having the DMP program negotiate GW adjustments? Can I do it personally? Or should I leave it alone until things are paid in full?

Disclosure: I’m about to be homeless because the landlord of the house I live in is in foreclosure and I need to find (and be approved) for a new place to live, come up with a new deposit, etc So I need my score to come up a bit – in the high 500s now.

There is ONE card that is NOT part of the DMP – it’s a Citi card. I made payment arrangements with them about a year before getting into the DMP. No lates are showing. I’m 5 months away from paying it off and the TL will be closed. I would like to have Citi reconsider and leave it open afterwards. Should I call and ask them now? Should I leave it alone until I finish paying? Should I kiss it goodbye?
