First off I’d like to say thank you to everyone in this forum. I haven’t been a member long but I’ve spent a lot of time reading trying to rebuilding my credit and I now know the importance of it. Since I officially joined the forum in past week I looked at my credit reports and I’ve made a plan of action. In reading my credit reports I found that I had a closed citi bank credit card that had adverse information that was still reporting. It wasn’t until a couple of night I ago I started thinking about when I actually had a citi bank credit card….. Then it dawned on me I never actually had one, EVER! Then I started thinking years ago when I was with an ex of mine she mentioned that she was going to add me as an authorized user on her account. This was probably back in 2003, long story short we broke up and I never thought about it. All these years I had ding from citi and I didn’t even know. This showed me the importance of going through your credit reports thoroughly and carefully.Â

With the advices of people on this forum I’ve disputed citi and BofA on the premises of “not my accounts” because I was only an authorized user, so I’m pretty confident those will get taken care of. Then I had a few other paid-CA’s, that are still reporting but its been the midway point as they are expected to fall off in 2012 and 2013. I wrote GW letters and hopefully they’ll budge and delete them. I know that its difficult now because they are in the position of power because they’ve been paid. But I was honest in the letters I wrote, so I’m optimistic. I’ll keep you all posted. If all goes we I should be well on my way to 700 by then end of the year.Â
