I currently have a medical debt that is past due since January 2006 and the collection agency grant &weber is reporting on my exp and tu. I have called and wrote them to get them to PFD they refuse saying they cannot legally remove this from my credit reports till after i make a payment. I read about the HIPPA letter program and would like to go that route. I called the hospital about my account and told them I would like to pay them but they said that they can only collect the original amount owed not including the interest. The collection agency is charging interest on it and can come after me for it even after Ive paid the hospital bill. Can anyone give me advice about how to get this removed from my report for a payment in full. Thanks everyone on this forum for all your advice!
To start off ive learned so much on here from everyone, ive been coming here for over a year and had decent credit until now. I have a hospital bill that popped up on all 3 reprts and had no warning at all. Its from 05/2010 and its for $3505.00… I have been to that hospital before WITH insurance about a year earlier. I disputed this debt with all 3 report agencies and ex and eq came back verified and TU deleted it after no verification. I called the hospital to ask for charge report and they sent me charges that ive never had in my life. Ive never had a ct scan or even the IV they claim i have had. So my ? is, what can i do to get the other 2 to follow with TU and DELETE this obvious account that isnt mine?
Hello All,
Â
I was wondering if you experts could help me. I had 3 collections from a hospital in 2005, which were sent to ARB (accounts recovery bureau) and after explaining to them why the bills were paid, the hospital agreed it was their error and contacted ARB to remove the paid collections from my credit bureau. I received a letter from ARB confirming and referencing the accounts which would be removed from the credit bureaus. I just pulled all my 3 credit reports and one of the account still shows under TU.
Â
Can you please tell me what steps I need to take inorder for this account to not report anymore? I have the ARB’s letter to show that they agree that this should not have been reported at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Â
Thanks.
How should I proceed?Â
Â
My wife had gallbladder surgery while in college 6 years ago. The hospital billed her for the surgery, and we had been paying that off (father didn’t keep insurance on her at the time). Well, I guess the radiologist didn’t bill through the hospital like everyone else, so she had 3 collections on her report this last summer for small amounts relating to this surgery. We tried calling the OC, but they say they don’t own the debt anymore and can’t take payment.Â
Â
The CA is:
Â
Creditors Collection Service
Â
Perhaps someone can PM me with the best way to go about this?Â
I have small collection acocunt ($39 left on balance) that I’ve been making payments on to the CA for the past year. The original balance was $1,100.00 with a local hospital near me. The CA is reporting this on my CR.
Â
I have the final $39 and I am about to mail this out. I need some advice. Should I mail the payment to the CA and ask for deletion or should I call up the hospital (OC) and offer to pay and ask for deletion.Â
Â
How would you guys handle this? Thanks.
Hello, new member here. I have searched and read many posts on here trying to get an idea of how credit works. Finally got that FICO was the “it” score to go by and have checked it from time to time.Â
Â
My EX score was 677 but just the other day it dropped to 561 b/c NCO posted 3 charged off medical debts to my CR. I had tried to work with the hospital. Told the lady I could pay $50/mo towards my bills and would pay more when I could. She said they needed to see more than that a month for a debt in the range I owe ($4-5k not really sure as I got so many bills from them) and the call ended w/ no solution.Â
Â
I had just gotten my credit back on track after losing my job and getting an eviction, repo and all my CC’s CO’d 15 years ago. Was able to get my first unsecured credit cards from CapOne in nearly 15 years. I have made my payments on time to all my credit cards and they have been awesome about increasing my CL.Â
Â
The questions I have are:
Â
1) Is this considered medical debt even though NCO is not related to any medical profession?
2) Should I send a DV even if I know this is most likely my medical bills?
3) Is it possible to pay off these CO’s and have it removed? I read if you pay on a debt is shows in your CR for 10 years instead of 7 that can’t be a good thing, but I am depressed thinking I am going to have to wait another 7 years before my credit will rebound (again)
Â
My ex GF reads these forums religiously and told me not to deal with NCO w/o having everything in writing/recorded and not to agree to anything unless they are willing to delete it from my CR when it’s paid. I am so confused and worried I am going to throw my money away paying this and still have to wait out the next 7 years while my credit heals. Meanwhile new medical bills are coming in and I have managed to get the doctor’s portion on a payment program.Â
Â
Thought about declaring BK but current GF told me I don’t have enough debt and medical bills can’t be included. That I would have to file Chapter 13 (repayment BK?) and pay all my bills anyway plus the $3k +- for filing BK. Reason I want to file BK is her CS is 620 after only one year of her BK discharge. One year is waaaay better than 7.
Â
Sorry for drawing this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Matt
I have a bunch of hospital bills that really cost me in credit scores. I really want to try to consolidate it but I can’t find anyone who does debt consolidation without credit card debt. Any suggestions?
Yes, I am asking for help writing a letter. Â It’s so easy for me to share and to give advice when it’s something not in my home court. Â :)
Â
There is a medical collection on DH cr.
Â
The collection agency never had it (as far as I know) or collected on it.
Â
The bill was paid directly to the hospital on the payment plan.
Â
The hospital gladly accepted money for the bill each month. Â
Â
The same hospital now says FOAD, now that it’s paid off.
Â
The collection company — no information on them on the cr (no address, no phone number). Â It’s West Asset.
Â
Disputed with the cra. Â They “verified” it as of 11/10. Â Although technically, I think they took longer than 30 days from when it was disputed. Â Something like 31-35 days.
Â
Ok, guys, what is the next step to get the dang collection off of the cr?
Â
Thank you!! Â :)
Hello I’m new to this forum so please bear with me I had a couple of questions for anyone who can help me with them :smileyhappy: My current credit scores are:
Â
TransUnion  -  576
Experian    –  554
Equifax      -  509
Â
I have no excuses for why they are that low. Anyhooo I am graduating college next month and already have a job lined up for 85k/year and I want to buy a home early next year, and the community I want to live in needs at least a 640 score. Anyway back to the question
Â
I cureently have 2 credit cards on my Credit Reports both charged off one with Asset Assurance and the other with Capital Management Services which I think is the same as LVNV and resurgent.. I also have some medical bills in collections (I was hit by a car last year) which have been paid off but my lawyer is looking into diputing them being put on my CR in the first place.. Now the big question (sorry for the back history) If i am successful with the PFD’s on my 2 credit cards and my hospital bills are taken off my account The only thing that will remain is my current Student Loans (Which haven’t started taking effect yet) wouldn’t this adversly effect my credit score because of lack of history? Would it be better for me to just pay the CA’s in full and not have them delete? And lastly has anyone had any luck with getting PFD with Asset Assurance and Captal Management?
Â
P.S. I think Asset Assurance JUST bought my credit card so if i pay for it does that mean it won’t be reported (if i pay before they report) or can they still report.
Thanks so much in advance
I have a CA stating I have a balance owed on a hospital bill. I paid the hospital bill more than six months ago to the hospital. I then called to let the hospital know it was still reporting. I can see it on ScoreWatch. The hospital said they would take care of it but nothing has happened. I followed the standard protocol with the form letter for DV in purple writing and sent it certified so I could have the deliver date confirmed but it has not been accepted. What did I do wrong? USPS.com says it should have been there on the first and it’s in a town not five hours from here.Â
Â
I have not received any attempts from this CA in more than a year (which is coincidentally when I found out insurance had filed it wrong).
Â
I know I have the right address and it’s not a PO box. It’s a physical address.Â
Â
What do I do next?
Â
Thanks
