Hi – I’m rusty at understanding DOFD, DOLA etc. and I read through the helpful stickies. but i’m not clear on EQ CRTP at all and could use some help.

I’m looking at my acutal credit report that I rec’d a month or so ago from EQ.  I paid a CO cc on 7/2009 directly to the OC. From my EQ credit report:

Equifax date major deliquency reported was 01/2008; date of last payment 7/2009 (that is correct) – so how do I determine the fall off date on EQ? this account should fall off on 8/2014 — that is what is listed on TU and that is correct  - Date of last activity field is BLANK on my actual credit report!!  How do I possibly get this corrected?

DOFD= Date of First Delinquency – This is the date of the delinquency that led to the charge off/status. This is NOT the first time you were ever delinquent on the account. If you are looking at your EX or TU report, it may not show DOFD, instead it will say “This account scheduled to remain until XXXXX” or something to that affect, subtract 7-7.5 years from this date and you will have DOFD.   If you are looking at your EQ report, if you don’t see DOFD, look for DOLA. EQ uses the DOLA field to report the DOFD. If your report is from CSC (an EQ affiliate) then it may show a DOFD field, it will also show a Date 1st Delinquency Reported field—ignore that, it isn’t the same thing.

DOLA= Date of Last Activity—this would be the date you last made a payment, used the account, etc.

Charged-off accounts: Remain seven years from the date of the initial missed payment that led to the charge off (the original delinquency date), even if payments are later made on the charged-off account.

I believe that when I paid that CO CC, I reset myself for another 7.5 years with EQ. Doesn’t that stink -  could have done a pfd with a CA but I never had a CA reporting!!. 7.5 more years to go from 7/2009. Am I right?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

ETA According to myfico EQ report the DOLA is listed as 7/2009..

I have been reading these forums for the last 3 nights, and it has spurred me on to get going and fix my credit!

Its come to that point in my life where I have decided to dive into my credit files and see whats up.

Long story short, my wife passed away in 2002, and to be honest, I didn’t care if bills got paid or not.

Over the last year or so, I’ve tried paying bills on time, and even got a new AMEX in exchange for paying off a charged off AMEX account. The economy hasn’t helped me, and I have had some issues paying 3 of my loans..the bank has worked with me, and I think I have everything on track.

The good:

I have a loan thru American Honda for the last 16 months that is perfect..never a day late.

Same with my AMEX..perfect going on 2 years.

I have 3 bank loans that have been on time for about 4-5 months now.

The bad:

I have several smallish medical bills in collections, and a nasty Sears charge off of 2300.00

I have tried to settle the Sears C/O, but when offered a deal, the CA WILL NOT send me a letter saying the debt will be PIF once the negotiated settlement is sent. The good news, of sorts, is that debt is scheduled to come off in 2012.

I also have a Verizon bill for 646.00 that I actually owe 300.00 on, but with the crazy “fees”, its 646.00 Sceduled to come off in 2011. I have never been contacted by anyone in person to pay this bill. EVER. Just letters.

I have the 3 current bank loans still open, with probably 7-8 30 days late payments scattered across the 3 loans, but they go back over a year ago. my current (within the last 3 months) payments have been on time.

I also have a Visa in my Dads name ( I am a Jr.) showing up on MY credit report. It has perfect pay history, but the balance is over 20K. Credit limit is 50K. Not sure if thats hurting me either?

My FICO is 520.

Any idea how much of an impact the 30 day late payments are killing my score, or is it mostly the Sears and Verizon accounts?

I have all 3 current CR’s, and I haven’t seen anything worth refuting other than my Dads Visa in my CR…most of it is pretty good.

I have read the FAQ’s, but still not sure where to start.

Help or advice?

Brief history

Husband and I have about $7000 in CC debt.  We have two auto payments and another loan payment on my husbands boat.  We are currently upside down on one auto payment.  Things were perfectly fine until my husband lost his job and cannot collect unemployment.  He does some odd jobs but that just helps with the essentials like groceries and utilties.  Basically our CC minimum payments are $350 a month.  I was thinking of just stop making payments on them and then calling them one at a time as I get some money to settle the balances.  I struggle with this so much because until 4 months ago I never had a late payment on my report.    However we were idiots and lived beyond our means never expecting my husband to lose his job.  My credit score has always been low because I’ve had “too much debt”.  I am tired of stressing every month trying to make the minimum payments and it’s done nothing for my credit score.  I know we cannot buy a house for several years so I’m about to just say screw it all.  We’ve spent all our savings and have been liquidating any thing of value to make our monthly payments.  We are trying to sell the boat and one car but that’s very difficult.  I’m really looking for any help or advice on what to do.  Thanks.

Hi Everybody,

Appreciate the help from the community.

On my credit report I have a negative item (collection).  This stems from co-signing an apartment lease for my sister-in-law in California.  I live in NJ.  She broke the lease and did not pay any fees.  Subsequently they went to court, I didn’t receive any paperwork, and they filed a judgement against her and me.  My sister-in-law didn’t help with this which is a totally another issue.

Since then, the amount $4500 was given to IC Systems to collect.  They actually provided all the judgement information to me via fax.

I got a lawyer in California which stated the case would cost considerable money to reopen and preferred contacting the management company.  He was able to negotiate a reduced satisfaction of judgement for me specifically.

My question is that currently, my credit took a hit of 60pts with the negative item (collection).  I have seen in the forums that satisfaction of judgements will decrease your credit score also.

Should I pay the reduced amount, then send a GW to the court to attempt a removal of the judgement from my records.  Any help or advice is appreciated.Â
