I had a derogatory item pop up out of the blue this month.

I think it’s an old item from Adelphia that was sold to a collector that came off after 7 years.  It was gone for a year, now I think it’s back in another form because another collector bought it.

I knew I should have disputed it. I didn’t bother because it was probably from college–over 7 years ago.

It also says:

Account information disputed by consumer, meets FCRA requirements, under remarks.

I never disputed the item obviously because it’s so new.

What should I do?

Thank you in advance.

Question by james w: How often do mortgage comapnies use the 4506 t form to very info. Always or hardly ever when buying a home?
If you provide the mortgage company with all the requested info do they typically follow up on that. Does it vary from company to company or is it a common practice for them to execute the 4506t form. Also, has anyone everheard of first choice mortgage in charlotte? Any thoughts on them?

4506t are used if there is a problem verifying your soc # & also it is used when the lenders get audited, and they do get audited!

I have not heard of First Choice Mortgage in Charlotte.

I’ve received a collection notice that has no ‘Current Creditor’ listed anywhere in the notice.  There is a ‘Current Servicer’ given, but the two places where the form letter says ‘current creditor’ it is followed by a blank space.

The other thing is, I had actually settled the debt in full 3 days after the date stated in the notice as the date the ‘debt was created’.

Now I’m just wondering what is the quickest, least-hassle way to address this.  Should I go down the DV path or is challenging it due to the missing Creditor a better way to go?

“Payment is to be made in the form of Money Order, Personal Check, Cashier’s Check, or Certified Check.”

What is the best form of payment to use?  Personal Check would be the easiest since I wouldn’t have to go to the bank but I thought that you should never send a CA a Personal Check.

Any thoughts??

Thanks

Good morning,

I recently bought a new home and moved from my apartment.  While that is all well and good I would like to continue to dispute information on my report.  I have updated the my address on myFico.com, but when I create a dispute letter it is still adding my old apartment number to my current address…. even though I don’t have an apartment number anymore.

Any thoughts on how to get this off?  I have gone back and updated my address a couple times trying to get it off but the problem is the Apt # doesn’t show where I’m updating the address, just when I go to dispute it adds it in there to my current mailing address on the form.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

D

My daughter is 19 and joined the military earlier this year and I’ve been helping her build her credit.  Last fall she moved out of her apt. she shared with her roommate and they moved into another apt.  She recently printed her credit report and there was a collection from Tenant Tracker for over $1,000 from her old apt. place!!  She never received anything from them — at all and neither did her roommate.  She actually got out of her last lease through the military enlistment but on her other apt., she did give notice prior to moving.

I sent a debt validation letter found here on the forums, requesting a full media validation.  I sent this certified mail, return receipt requested.  We did get the green card back and although they did not date it next to the signature, it has the postage mark of 3/26.  A few days ago, she received a letter dated 3/30 with a very generic breakdown of charges — basically like $400 for cleaning, $300 “other” and $300 for collection fees!!!  They did not provide any other documentation.

Also, at the time I sent the debt validation letter to the CA, I also sent one to the CRA disputing the item.

So now that the CA sent this form letter AFTER the requested media validation — is this legal “validation” of debt — them simply saying she owes it and here’s how we calculate the charges?  If not, what do you recommend our next step be in taking care of this or keeping it off her credit?

The apt. she moved from was a total dump.  Her and her friend took over her friends mom’s lease with both their names.  She believes the CA may be trying to stick her with the full amt they are trying to collect.  How can we find this out for sure if this form letter is all they sent?

Thanks!

Has anyone had an issue with them trying to get approved? I keep filling out the form online, but it keeps telling me my information is wrong..lol. Could this be because of a security freeze on my credit file?

My current scores are:

TU: 649

EQ: 657

Three paid charge offs, one unpaid. One paid collection on TU. 4 inquiries on each. DTI is about 30%-35%. Do you think I will be able to get approved?Â
