Paying off a Collection Account

I have small collection acocunt ($39 left on balance) that I’ve been making payments on to the CA for the past year.  The original balance was $1,100.00 with a local hospital near me.  The CA is reporting this on my CR.

 

I have the final $39 and I am about to mail this out.  I need some advice.  Should I mail the payment to the CA and ask for deletion or should I call up the hospital (OC) and offer to pay and ask for deletion. 

 

How would you guys handle this?  Thanks.

Hi All,

 

Cable company sent my final bill to wrong fowarding address and I found out about the bill only when it showed up on CR. Do I have a good shot at disputing this? I paid the bill once I found out about it but it shows on my report as a paid collection. Debt reported to CRAs April 2010.

Improving score after loan modification process

Can anyone tell me how long it takes for your fico score to improve after a six month loan modification process.  process began 12/09 and i received the final paperwork 6/10. from 12/09 to 6/10 my mortgage is reported as late (and has drastically affected my score). everything else is current, just the mortgage

Score drop because of Windstream error

Here’s the long and short of it, I cancelled my service with Windstream in December 09 and went to Comcast, paid my final bill to Windstream, in August I recieved a letter from a collection agency on behaf of Windstream saying I still needed to pay my final bill, Windstream never mailed out anything to me or called to tell me I owed them anything, so I called them and they said to mail them a copy of the cancelled check which I did and thought that’s that. A month ago I got an email alert from My Fico saying a collection had been added to my report resulting in a 65 point drop in my credit score. I called Windstream and once again I had to mail them a copy of the cancelled check, It took 3 weeks for them to call me back and say it was their error and that they have contacted all credit reporting agencies. I checked my score yesterday and still no change. Will my score go back to where it was before they did this and if doesn’t is there any action I can take against Windstream? I was just about to go and buy a car when this happened. I have worked so hard to get my score where it was 748 the highest it’s ever been. I am so angry right now. What can I do? Thanks…
