Should I send a letter to all 3 CRA’s reminding them that my DoFD was 7 yrs ago and to please take the item off of my report?

rebuilding credit
byMark Lincoln

I have my utilities which of course help, but i have heard a credit card is the best way to rebuild credit. But with my credit being not real good, no one will approve me for a credit card. I feel like i am chasing my tail in circles.

I just recently paid off all my past credit card debt. I paid off one student loan (expect the interest) and i have one student loan still active. I noticed my credit score went up, but i am still being denied. How long does it take to completely clear off my debt and how soon should i apply for credit so i can “rebuild” my credit. And do bad credit ever go away?

Just a couple of days ago, I sent a fax to transunion stating on several occasions I have contacted LVNV and it’s affiliates requesting validation of a debt they were reporting in my credit file but I haven’t received validation per my request.  The certified letter was returned to my attention.  Today I notice my score increased 19 points.  Not only did LVNV add an additional $ 5 to my balance but the CRA placed the account in dispute comment back on my credit file.  I specifically stated in my letter that it was not a dispute but a request to remove the information for non validation.  The agent told me they placed the comment in my file because they are conducting an "investigation" which is the same as a dispute.  He stated they sent an email to LVNV and they are currently waiting for a response.  Once they respond, they will notify me with the results.  As the consumer, would anyone know my rights from this point or what should be my next step?  Why is LVNV charging me fees if they have not validated the date?  Once they remove the "AID" comment, my score is going to drop 19 points again.  PLEASE HELP!!!

rebuilding credit

I have a pretty low credit score (597) and want to begin rebuilding my credit. The score is low from charge offs about 3 years ago. Is there a certain bank or credit card that is easier on people like me that will give me a credit card? And yes–I do plan on paying on time. It would be for small simple purchases that I would otherwise buy with cash and could pay off easily each month.

I have a 5k debt and am consolidating it with monthly payments. I was wondering if my credit will start rebuilding right away or if it will only start building after the 2 years of $ 220 payments is over

I had a collection on my account from National Recovery Agency.  When I called them, they said they no longer serviced the account and wouldn’t even tell me who the OC was.  I asked them to provide this in writing, but they refused.  So, I promptly disputed the collection through the CRA.  I got notice yesterday that the results had come back and that the account would be delted from my credit report.  Very exciting!

I pulled a  new copy of my report and noticed that they had in fact been delted.  Very, very exciting!  However, my score hasn’t changed at all.  Wouldn’t it increase since a negative remark has been removed completely?

I recently disputed 2 negative TL’s with all three CRA. My Citi had 1 60 day and my Chase had 1 30 day and 1 60 day.  The disputes are still pending however I called both Chase and Citi and both agreed to remove the negative notices. Should I cancel my disputes with the CRAs or just let them go through?  I dont want to dispute something that they are agreeing to take care of and I’m nervous it’s going to mess everything up.

Advice please!

The only report showing any medical collections is Experian, So do I dispute the medical collections, then pay OC, then send prehippa letter to the CRA, and if they do not remove then send info to the OC?  Does this sound right?

I’ve gotten responses from both EQ and EX on preHIPAA letters and other late payment disputes but absolutely nothing from TU.  It’s only been 2 weeks but you’d think they would have sent me SOMETHING!  I don’t want to send in the HIPAA letter to the OC’s until I get the verifications of each MED collection from all 3 of the CRA’s.

Good Evening;

Do secure loans from credit unions report to the CRA? I am going to call Dade County Federal Credit Union to double-check, but just want your opinion if you credit union does.

Need some answers.I have 3 charge offs from 2004.This was the last time any reporting was done to the CRA’s.Does that mean they will drop off this year since this is the 7th year?

Thanks for any help…

Are collection agencies allowed to report debt validation to credit reporting agencies?  Both Asset Acceptance and Credit Mgmt Inc sent notices to all three of my CRA’s.
