Settling Medical Debt

Hello there,

 

I have 8 medical collections for my daughters I just contacted the original creditor of my medical bills and they referred me to the collection agency.  The collection agency is not willing to do a PFD for removal however they are willing to do a settlement of 20% off and stating that it is paid. 

 

If I pay the collection agency can I use the HIPPA process to get the collections removed from my credit reports?

Made a mistake and DVd before SOL was up!

So I was shaking in my boots because I DV’d without checking SOL.  I was just waiting to get some nasty news from the collection agency until I realized…they removed it from all 3 CRAs.

When an account is sold to a collection agency how should the balance be reporting for the original creditor?

 

Balance as $20.00

Amount past due $20.00

Has anyone ever delt with Peroutka & Peroutka?  They are located in MD.

 

Has anyone ever delt with HFC sending them to a law firm/collection agency?

I have a collection agency that has the option to pay online…what do we think about this?  I owe 2500, should I spend the extra 1.50 and send money orders?
