About 6 months ago everything was going great. My wife and I had steady decent paying jobs and combined we were making about 75K a year. Then she got pregnant and our lives really felt like it was going in the right direction. Then she got laid off. Uh Oh. Now money is running out quickly and in about a month our savings we be drained and we wont be able to make our house payment anymore. It is very hard to come up with the money to pay for a $ 1300 house payment, $ 650 worth of car payments, plus credit cards and utilities. We have cut back on just about everything. No more cable or internet, 1 cell phone. I see advertisments everyday for mortgage help and they make it sound so easy. Our problem is we owe more on our house than it is worth. I cant seem to find a company that will help us refinance unless we owe less than it is worth. We even called our bank to talk to them about that new government project that helps people keep their homes, they wont even talk to us until we start missing payments. I would rather it not come to that. Our house is valued at 133K and we owe 140K. Does anyone have some ideas or know of a website or anyone in the Dallas / Fort Worth area that can help with our situation. By the way my wife has applied for over 40 jobs with not one single hit. We pray a lot and I do have faith that God is going to take care of us, but I would sure like to have a plan just in case. Thanks

My husband and I are moving back from Texas to Virginia and are seeking a mortgage to purchase a home of listed price 639,000.00. We plan to offer 620,000.00. Assuming our offer is accepted, we would plan to put down 124,000.00 (20%). We would like to mortgage 500,000.00. My husband’s company has made 20-30k for 2006 and 2007. Thus far for 2008, we have made a verifiable income of approximately 996,000.00 per year, since about March-April. I have been told we have moderate – good credit (says the cell phone lady – but I’m not even sure the credit matters as much as the income). And We have a single loan out for a vehicle for approximately 25,000.00.
My question is: How easy would it be for us to mortgage 500,000.00 being self-employed, if we can verify our income by bank statement for this year only? Will the mortgage people work with us, and can we get a rate (6% or so) which is good still, like everyone else who makes this money?

We would like to purchase our first home badly, as we have been renting for years…hopefully I’ll still be excited after this!
Thank you in advance!

Hello;

My nephew just turned 18, and he started ccollege this year. He tried to apply for a student credit card, and was denied. He was denied because there was an account in collection on his Credit Report. The account was with Verizon Communiations, (Not a cell phone account) It was an old phone number, and internet/cable provider at his mothers house, who opened the account with his social security number, and never paid for it. The account is in collection, and I feel like he should not have to pay for it, because he was only about 15 when it was opened, by his mother. How should he go about getting it off of his credit report??

I had alot of things go to collections, and Im slowly paying them off one by one. I even got my Macys card back. I am now trying to rebuild my credit. I got a Tribute card, which only has a $ 70.00 credit limit, and I applied for a secured credit card from B of A. Do you think I can use my secured credit card to pay some of my bills in collection? Is this a good idea?

I have one baddie left on my equifax report. It is a cell phone collection with frost arnett.I was wondering if anyone had sucess with a pfd with frost arnett.The dofd was in 2007.

I have received two phone calls from Portfolio Recoveries – once on my cell phone and once on my landline – regarding an old Goodman Jewlers charge card from 1998. Both times I told them to mail me information and left it at that. On the second call, to my landline, she told me that they had mailed me something – to an address I haven’t lived in for 8 years! She asked for my current address, and I hung up after telling her that I am not in the habit of giving out personal information to anyone calling me on the phone.

This is 6 years past SOL. What should I do next, if anything? (According to the caller, the amount due is only $211).

Thanks!

I sent a debt validation letter which included a limited cease and desist, which stated to only contact me through the mail.  I received my green card back, yet they are still calling my cell phone and my PARENTS house several times per day!  What to do next??  This is Midland btw….

Okay I keep getting this call from CRA I think that maybe their name.  When they contact me they never leave a name are will not tell me who they are. Their number is 18647241363.  They call me in the middle of the night and let the phone ring maybe once or twice and then hang up. They are not calling my house phone the are calling my cell phone they are very mean and rude and have my ss# and let me no that they will use it to ruin my credit. They told me that I owe someone but did not tell me who has anyone else heard of this company?
