Hi,

I need advice on how to handle a redeemed repossesion from Oct-2005.  I purchased a ford pick-up in 2003, then in 2005 I fell on some hard times and they repo’d the truck.  I borrowed money from my in-laws to get the truck back and I paid it without anymore issues but it still haunts me on my CRs.  I have purchased a new home and moved since then….so my question is….what would you fine “scumbags” do to have it removed…..

BTW, I was only joking about the scumbag comment (it is a hot topic currently)…you all are very helpful and knowledgable and I for one have gained loads of information browsing the boards here….

I have a judgement from September 2004.  It is almost due to come off my credit report (around September). Dominion Law Associates wants me to pay it right away.  They will settle for 60% in two payments with $100.00 deposit by Monday.  Are they trying to get any type of payment so they can doing something else? The original amount was around $2000.00 but now it is almost $8000.00.

1.Should I wait until it comes off my credit report before I make any type of settlement?

2.Should I see a lawyer and see they can negotiate a reduced amount?

3. Can they go to court and reissue another judgement or something so it stays on my credit report?

4. Can they take money out of my checking account?

I apologize.  I am new to the boards and I have tried to find the answers but I am a novice.

I was contacted this morning about a debt owed of 3k. They were willing to settle for $1200. Normally I would have jumped on this settlement, but my readings on the boards have taught me to negotiate!

I told her that my counter offer was to either:

1 – accept the settlement and set up a payment plan to have this reported as settled in full ( I don’t want to take this option)

2 – accept the settlement and pay it all in full to have this deleted or reported as paid in full

She said she’s never done this before, but would check with her manager and call me back! I will keep you updated.

Any other ideas on counter offers???

I was going to just offer a PFD to get it over with (my credit profile is looking the best it probably will for the next few months, as I’m remodeling a house and will likely be moving a lot of money through my cards), but tried the DV letter first, even though the debt is over 6 years old, and has been bought up by a junk debt CA.

Should I dispute it, or should I just fax a letter offering a PFD? If disputing makes for a strong case at this point, I’ll try it, but man, I just want to see the thing gone, and its worth paying the $326 balance to see that happen.

Thoughts?

P.S. Normally the dispute would have been the first thing I’d have done, but reading through the boards it seems its not a very popular thing to do…

Does anyone have a letter template for disputing an inquiry on my credit report? I searched the boards, but couldn’t find one.

Thanks!!

Hello. I am new to the boards and have already learned so much from reading old posts.

I am wondering if anyone has a good contact for a GW letter at WFNNB/J Crew they could share with me. I have a 90 day late payment from 2006 that I want to try to get removed from my credit report. Any input/experience/suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

I have been *whatever it’s called* stalking the boards for a couple days in hopes of some encouragement from the stories…

Here’s the short version of mine… My Husband and I made some really bad decisions early in our marriage, credit wise. In June of 2010, we got our free credit reports and paid off everything on both of them. We have since applied for a secured card through Navy Federal that should be arriving any day with a $500 limit. The scores that I got through the website Identity Guard for me are EQ 551 EX 593 and TU 604, I guess my FAKOs ?? My husband’s scores, through the same site, are EQ 633 EX 567 and TU 593. Through the site, I found that I still have 11 collections on my report! And my husband has 1. I am paying all of mine off (total of $3200!!) this month and my husband’s (of $11) today. They are all medical collections that I had no clue were on my report. ANYWAY, with a secured card and $0 balances on eveything, do you think that we can get our score up to 620 by September? We also have been added as AU on my husband’s brother’s Citibank card that has a $0 balance and a $12,500 limit that is paid off every month. It’s not showing yet on our reports though. We have family friends that want to sell us our dream home in September, we are going to rent first until then, but I have to know that we can get a mortgage. I have called a loan officer and am doing everything she said to do but am still worried.

I need some encouragement!! Can this be done?

Hello,  I’ve spent a couple of hours looking for the answer to my question on the Boards.  I’m sure it’s here somewhere but I can’t find it.

I have some negative reports (past due) from 1988, 2002 & 2003.  I thought CRTP was 7 years.

Can I have these removed, and how do I do that?

Thanks!  Eastenderann

New to the board and newly committed to rebuilding my credit.

I have several credit issues I am on track to resolving. The major ones have been student loans. I recently got all of my loans back on a current payment status.

I have 3 collection accounts totaling about $200. I plan on paying these off.

What kind of score increase can I reasonably expect between now and January? Assuming I pay off the collection accounts and keep the student loans current?

I have been reading the boards and noticed that 620 seems to be the lowest score to secure a mortgage. I don’t have any open credit cards, auto loans, or store cards. (I can’t get approved for any)
