too many accounts unused in many years still on credit report

Mar 012011

One of teh negative factors affecting my credit scoreis that i have 45 different accounts. However most of these accounts were paid off and have not been used in many years such as leased car loans, some student loans, a gym membership that i paid off 8 years ago or even some credit cards that haven’t been used in years.  How do i get closed accounts off the report? How long should i expect that an account shows up?

Also there is a collections charge of $50.00 from a hospital bil back from 2006.  I had no idea i owed them money, as a matter of fact i have been to that hospital multiple times over the past years adn they never told me i owed them money.  How long does a Collections item remain on the credit report?

Thank you

Silvia

Collections- making payments…

Jan 262011

Hey guys, I have two collections that I would love to do something with, but not sure if I have any options.  I am currently paying both collections off using monthly payments, both were really big and I did work out a deal with them to pay a percentage of the amount, and payments are being made.  The accounts are American Express and an old Providian Account.  Both accounts do show that the balance due is lower each month, but neither account shows on it that I am paying just that they were charged off.  I am curious if anyone has had any luck getting them at least updated to show that it is being paid.  Is there anything that I can do while paying to have them removed?

I have 6 more payments on Amex and I am done with them, but due to not paying in full, will I have any hope of having it removed?

I still have 2 more years on Providian, just worked out a payment plan with them, but still thought I would ask about having anything done here.

I did have a lawyer work out both plans so they are legal and binding…  Curious if the fact that they are updaing the amount owed will cause my score to go lower?

Thanks!

LVNV (again…sorry)

Jan 072011

I am happy this account is not reported to TU anymore as TU was my lowest of the three FICO scores… however, what is being reported to the other two CRA is wrong.  Not sure how to handle this… I am afraid if I dispute it, the account will wind back up on TU.

I know I’ve gone through this before in a post but I’m not sure what my next action is.

LVNV is the CA, Resurgent cashed the first check written to Northland Group, transferred the account to Allied in the middle of my payment plan, and I paid Allied Interstate in the end.

I have sent a GW e-mail to Resurgent.  Should I GW Allied Interstate instead?  Neither are the reporting CA because LVNV goes by a bunch of different names.

This is how the account shows up on my CR:

  • allied interstate PFD
  • lvnv pfd success
  • lvnv dispute success

So what next?

May 272010

So my credit repair journey is about six weeks old and I have basically no progress.  Of my three adverse accounts I still need some advice as to what to do.

1) Orchard Bank:  This account shows as closed on all three CRs and it also shows as charged off on all three CRs but there is no corresponding CA on any of my CRs.  I sent a PFD directly to Orchard Bank and they sent me a letter saying that I need to contact Enhanced Recovery and gave me a phone number to contact them.

2) Verizon Wireless:  This account shows as charged off on all three CRs and shows a balance.  There are also still reporting a balance.  I sent them a PFD and they responded with a letter to contact them directly.  I called them and they referred me to a collection agency.  No collection agency reports for this account on my CR.

3) Credit One Bank:  This account shows as closed on all three CRs and it also shows as a charge off.  It also reports a balance.  I sent them a PFD and they sent me a letter back with contact information for a CA that shows up on my CRs.  I have never been dunned by them as I have moved since I would have been dunned.  I also have settlement offers from Northland Financial collecting for CACH LLC (The CA)  Should I send a PFD to CACH LLC?

I just want to resolve these issues.

50 pt drop, ur not even allowed to report…please give me a brown paper bag to breath in

Mar 202010

So there is a new medical collection that just showed up on my report, and the collection agency does not really have the right to report this. I started receiving the letters in the mail about 2months ago and I called the MD office about it, since it was being disputed with the insurance company. The MD office told me not to worry about the collection agency. About 1month ago the insurance re-considered and paid the claim at 80%, I called the MD office to see what I owed and they said they will get back with me. And then today the Collection account shows up for the full amount on my credit report and my score dropped a good 50points. WTF…..

1. Is there a way to regain the points if the collection is removed? (like same day removal and points are back?)

2. Did they violate any legal rules?, can I sue???

3. Can someone pass a brown bag through the internet, I think I am about to start hyperventilating.

Can a CO still report a past due balance?

Mar 162010

I have a charge off listed on my report from 2006. The account shows a past due balance and this is showing in my “past due balances”. Once they charge off can they still report a balance? Keep in mind this is the OC and not a CA.
