Need Advice on disputing with Original Creditors.

Mar 102011

I am disputing information with a credit card company. When I send my dispute do I have to send proof of ID? Do I have to sign the letter? Does anyone know exactly what I must send with the letter to have it verified correctly?

What exactly can I require them to send me as proof that I own the account under the FCRA?

This is an account listed on my report that I had no knowledge of, so I don’t have any documents to send to them..

Thanks.

Current Status of Account

Oct 012010

I have an installment account that is paid in full.  However, the current status of the account is showing 30 to 59 days past due.  My question is how can an account be 30 to 59 days past due if it is closed.  I spoke with the representative from the collection agency she said this will remain on my file because the account was 30 to 59 days late whenI made my final payment.  In the description area they have the account listed as paid in full/zero balance.  Can someone please shed some light on this because I thought the current status should be either; paid, closed, or pay as agrees since the account is closed and paid in full

Orginal creditor or CA

Apr 212010

Hello, everyone. I am new to this board and am trying to get some advice on how to proceed. My husband and I are suppose to close on our home late June. My fico scores are in the high 700s but my husband’s is not.  There are two collections account listed on his report for the same sprint account. The first one is Bureau recovery for $199,  then Div. adj. serv. for $200 which just recently reported for the first time this month.  I have contacted sprint and they adjusted my bill from $199 to $149 and said I could directly pay them.  If I pay the oc (sprint) directly will the two credit agency have to delete?

more AFNI success

Mar 082010

After reading all of the success on here with AFNI I used that as one of my first attempts at deletion, also since the account was only for $119 and I could afford to pay it off.  I was getting a little upset because I hadn’t heard back from my email and it has been over a week, then today I get a letter from them that says:  This letter is to verify that we have filed a request with the credit bureaus to delete the account listed above from your credit report.  I never even paid it and the letter doesn’t say after we receive payment so now I’m wondering if I should pay?  I’m so excited to have a possible first deletion.  I won’t count my chickens til it’s off my report though!

Need Assistance

Mar 022010

I have an old Ford account that is just killing my Ex. score.  It is my opinion that they have been using the incorrect DOFD, so I disputed with Ex. It came  back verified.  But they also reaged the CO date from 2/2006 to 2/2010.  This dropped my FAKO about 70 points. I then redisputed, and included a letter from Ford I found around the house.  It’s an old letter informing me the account is past due.  When I redisputed with Ex, I shot a letter to Ford asking them to investigate the matter (DOFD) internally.

I have not received anything back from the 2nd dispute, nor have I got anything from Ford.  But I pulled my Ex today, and saw a new comment saying the account was verified in Mar. 2010.  The CO date has also been updated again, from  2/2010, to 3/2010. The account is always listed asCharge-off/Never late. So apparently Ford has verified the info, and I just havent received the letter.

Little things like this have been going on with this account for about 2 years.  I just recently started getting aggresive with clearing information that is not accurate from my report.

Are they able to move the CO date every month?  Do I have the ability to demand an account history from Ford?  If so, are there any example letters or should a simple request do the job.

I view Ford as a credible company.  The things they are doing are killing my report.  But it almost seems as if this is a result of computer error and not something purposely being done. I can’t see how an account listed as ”charge-off/Never late” would get past human review. Regardless of why it’s happening, I need it to stop, and would love to hear any ideas anybody may have. In my letter to Ford asking them to investigate the matter, I requested they send me copies of all relevant documents they used to make their determination. I was hoping that would have been good enough to get an account history.  Seeing that they verified the wrong information again, I doubt it was.

This debt is past SOL, and no CA is collecting on it right now. I say right now, because about 8 months ago when I disputed something else with this account, I got a call from a CA. After getting a Dunning letter from them, I sent them a DV request and I never heard back from them.

Thanks

Gw’s… how long to wait to send another…

Mar 012010

I have sent two to Amex for two different accounts. The one came back and the deleted the second account “Optima”. The First one just came in the mail today saying ” that this account listed reported under this customer reference number has been paid in full. However, in view of your parment history, the unsatisfactory rating will remain on your credit report” Both came from the same person if that makes any difference. The second account was an Optima account. They said since i paid my CO account that they would put in the Optima program, which with great payments they closed it on me out of the blue, But shows all the same dates as the first Amex account i had with the. I’m guess that the DOFD was June 03, cause it says CO in June 03 on the report i have. Really i was just trying to get it off sooner because im looking at buying a house around summer/fall.

Thanks

Ryan

Afni Verizon reporting different dofd?

Feb 242010

One of my last baddies to tackle is Afni. The debt is for a Verizon landline that Afni bought. As of a few weeks ago, Verizon stopped reporting on my cr. I wanted to check on reporting dofd’s because I sometimes get confused with the different cr formats.

On my EQ cr from 02/02/2010 I have this:
Verizon North
Charge Off
Date Opened: 02/2005
Date Reported: 04/2009
Date Major Delinquency First Reported: 04/2009
Date of last activity: N/A
Balance: $381
Date of First Delinquency: 04/2005

Afni Bloom
Date Opened: 05/2009

Date Reported: 07/2009
Date Major Delinquency First Reported: 07/2009
Date of Last Activity: N/A
Balance: $381

Date of First Delinquency: 09/2005

Now on my EQ cr (and all my reports are directly from EQ) from 02/20/2010, I only have the Afni account listed, which is the exact same as it was listed on the 02/02/2010 cr. I know most of the other dates don’t matter as far as differences go between a ca and an oc reporting, but shouldn’t the DOFD for Afni be the exact same as the one for Verizon? I felt they should be, but I wanted to make sure. For some reason Afni is giving me a hard time about doing a PFD, so would this reporting (if inaccurate) be good leverage to get them to agree? I haven’t DVed yet because I am trying to get this off fairly quickly, as it is my most recent collection. Luckily, I have not admitted ownership of this debt to Afni yet. I got my PFD letter from myfico.

Forgot to add, on my TU cr, it says Afni will drop off 08/2012. Verizon was never reported on my TU, so I can’t look back and check that one.
