who would i go to for help with a problem with a mortgage company and a mortgage lender/ bank. i have tried to talk to attorneys (local) but they won’t touch it. there have been suits filed against the bank and the mortgage lender is in prision.
don’t know where to go.

2. local governments currently running a budges deficit
3.lenders of fixed-rate mortgages
4.workers whose salaries are tied to the CPI

How Should Paid Chargeoffs Report ?

Dec 272010

I have 3 chargeoffs reporting similar to this:

CHASE BANK USA

(800) 955-9900
Account Number:

Monthly Payment:

Responsibility:
Individual
Credit Limit/Original Amount:
$1,000
High Balance:
$2,007
Recent Balance:
$0 as of 11/2008
Recent Payment:
$0
Creditor’s Statement:  Purchased by another lender.

Account History:
Charge Off as of Jan 2007 to Oct 2008
150 days past due as of Dec 2006
120 days past due as of Nov 2006
90 days past due as of Oct 2006
60 days past due as of Sep 2006, Apr 2006
30 days past due as of Aug 2006, Mar 2006

Like the other three, this chargeoff was transferred to collections, which I then paid. My question is about the way its being reported. Should I dispute this to show paid/chargeoff instead of (Status: Closed. $2,007 written off) & (Recent Balance: $0). Will this help or hurt my score? I’m nervous that this will rest the date of last activity (11/2008) to a more recent date, but I’m also not satisfied that I paid  this account but its not reporting paid. Are OCs required to report payment made to chargeoff accounts if the account was transferred? Any thoughts would be helpful guys.

Confused Newb seeking help.

Oct 312010

After trying to rebuild my credit for the last year, i finally discovered this amazing site! So please be patient with all the dumb questions:smileyhappy:

So last year I got my EX Vantage FAKO score of 618. While now I know it means nothing, it was low enough to push me into rebuilding my credit.

As of 10/25, I ran my FICO scores here and am at 725 with TU and 711 with EQ. I then went to Experian and received their Plus (FAKO) score of 711.

Today I went back to EX and tried their Vantage score just to see how it compared from last year. Well, it’s only 695. So this time, I looked closely at both my EX reports.

Apparently they’re both showing  a Macys card I had (which EQ and TU aren’t). The Experian Online Personal (free) Credit Report shows a DOFD of 10/04. Under ”Account History” is says:  Charge off as of 2/06 and under “Status” it says $50 written off”.

When I look at my other EX report (the one that shows me my Plus Score), it’s says “Payment Status: Legally paid in full for less than the full balance.

Now, neither TU nor EQ is showing the Macys card anywhere. I’ve also read that in NY, accounts placed for collection or charged to profit and loss, which have been paid and which antedate the report by more than five years can not be reported.

This account does not show anything due on it. It was paid.  Do I have a shot of EX taking it off if I call? It’s past the 5 year mark.

Verizon Wireless Charge off Help

Oct 132010

Hi All,

I have a negative Verizon Wireless account on my credit reports. I have tried multiple ways to get them to remove it, but no luck. My last resort seems to be to get them to update the description. Here’s what it’s listed as:

TransUnion: Payment After Charge Off/Collection

Experian: Status:  Paid,Closed. $485 written off. Account History: Charge Off as of Jun 2007

Equifax: Current Status: CHARGE-OFF. Comments: Paid charge off. Actual Payment Amount: $485

I’m not sure this is a charge off, as I did pay the full amount. If the wording is different on any of these reports, would that affect my score? (If it just said paid as opposed to charge off, etc.)

Thanks!

OMW…….. where to start.

Oct 132010

I am taking on a motherload helping my husband clean up his credit profile. This is what I am up against: 21 pages of negative account history. I feel like it is more than I can take on, so any help and advice would be appreciated.

Maybe first, some advice on Where I even start? I don’t know which original account and collection account are associated with each other and there seems to be a lot of duplicate entries. I assume I should start with debt verification letters? What should I ask for? Sample of verbiage would help..

How to increase my score?

Sep 092010

I am working on rebuilding my credit.  My FICO score is currently 548. I’d really like to purchase a home in the next year. I know it will take a lot of hard work and determination to improve my credit score, and I’m prepared for that. But is purchasing a (first) home in that time frame even a possibility? Or should I plan for not doing so for a much longer time?

Here’s my credit report from Experian….

Here’s My plan
(let me know what you think)

The first one -the civil claim judgment will be paid within the next month.

The second civil claim judgment is from Weltman Weinberg & Reis on behalf of Capital One, it will be paid ($1651) this month.

The Sallie Mae student loans – I had moved, they were in forbearance/deferment, I was irresponsible and didn’t realize the time had expired and payments were due. They’re in forbearance now, but I will start making payments in November! I plan on TRYING to make a payment greater than the minimum amount due.

Capital One – There are two separate accounts, the one that is related to the WW&R judgment, I plan on sending as many GW letters I possibly can in hopes they’ll remove it.

Portfolio Recovery /Capital One- I am currently trying to get them to accept a PFD, and will then send GW letters to Cap1.

HSBC/Arrow – I am currently disputing this, as an ex boyfriend, whom I lived with at the time opened the card in my name. If it is verified, I plan on offering a PFD.

That’s all I have so far! Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Also, what other steps can I take to increase my score?

  • equable ascent financial machol & johannes
  • myfico gw portfolio recovery
  • weltman weinberg reis student loan nct

Is this how a collection account should be reported? (Midland Credit Management)

Aug 122010

I’ve been working to clean up my credit report from mistakes I made 5-7 years ago. At any rate, I have an old collection account from Midland Credit Management (“MCM”) that was paid several years. This was from a Household Bank credit card. On my Experian report, the “Type” is listed as Installment and the “Term” is “1 months”. Is this how this should be reported? Does it hurt me more or less than a regular collection? I have tried sending a letter to MCM but they have not responded. Should I dispute this? Is disputing it worth the risk that it will stay on my report and the date of activity becomes more recent (and presumably reduce my credit score. Any help/comments would be appreciated. Below is how it is reported on my credit report.

Defaulted on a loan mid 2004. OC was awarded a judgement in the amount of $2,586. Wage garnishment was started in September of 2004 and was completed in January of 2005. What direction should I take? Call the bank and find out what happend to show that there is still a balance and why it now lists the DOFD as 12/05. Do I actually have any recourse?

Expecting a Baby… Need Repair Advice

Jul 192010

Hey everyone! Long time lurker first time poster. My wife and I just found out that she is pregnant and would like to get a house within the next year. Like most, when I was younger, I made some bad choices with credit and really had no idea how important it would be the older I got. This is where myFICO’s wonderful community comes in!!

Below is the “Potentially Negative Items” from my exp CR. The other 3 match it to a tee. My fico score is right around 552 as of 7.11.10. I have since been approved for a Capital One card with a $500 limit, which they will increase to $750 if 3 months of payments are made on time. I have also just been approved for an Orchard Bank HSBC credit card with a $200 limit. Neither of these are showing on my CR as of yet. I opened these to hopefully increase my open TL.

Can anyone give me any advice on how to handle the below items to best increase my score? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have written GW letters to Capital One and JCPenney, but have not yet sent them off.

Difficulty in removing/disputing old account on credit reports

Jul 172010

This account appears twice. From what I understand, it cannot be reported twice with balances. Secondly, I believe this should have fallen off by now. I called Midland today, didn’t admit to anything; just asked for information on the account. They stated that I had made a payment of $258.57 in 2006, which I had not. I don’t believe I have even touched this account since 2003. They also stated that the account was opened in 2006. What is the best route for me to take regarding this situation? I have attempted online disputes to no avail. I believe they may have re-aged the account but they wouldn’t provide me with documentation of payments and other necessities. Thanks for the input.
