I’m just venting here. I recently pulled my TU credit report and noticed that they were reporting a closed Chadwick’s account as Open. I called Chadwick’s to try and confirm it’s closed; they’ve already purged the account from their system and have no record of it. So I disputed with TU online. They are now showing the account as closed BUT a 30 day late from March 2005 was also updated to July 2010. What the heck? I closed this account in 2005, there was no balance due when it was closed. So I had to open a new dispute. They shouldn’t be able to verify since TU has no record of the account but now I’m wondering who came up with this arbitrary late payment date and I’m paranoid my current creditors will see it during a random FR and get nervous. I’ve worked really, really hard to bring my credit score up to the upper 700′s and will be really unhappy if the clock on this late has been reset.
Asset Acceptance has deleted my accounts…..Yip-pppeeeeee.

I sent an e-mail to the CEO & VP of Collections (googled the company / SEC Filings and found their names then tried every possible e-mail address from first initial/last name @ assetacceptance to president @ assetacceptance (7 addresses to be exact, I knew one had to reach them) and received this e-mail today from the compliance director.. part of it read:
Â
In terms of your request to delete the trade line from each of the credit reporting agencies as an act of “Goodwillâ€, it is not our business practice to delete trade lines when a consumer settles or pays-off a debt with us. In order to accurately report trade lines to the credit bureaus we report them with a zero balance and as paid when an account is settled or paid in full. However, in this situation, I will make an exception and delete the trade lines, as requested.

Whateva man, I’m very greatful.

They are a CA reporting my account as open lates instead of “collection” which sanked my scores. So I sent this long letter stating that it was a “GROSS VIOLATION OF THE FCRA.”
