Before finding this great forum I attempted to start my credit repair on my own.  My credit was terrible, but everything was old.  I paid off six accounts within the last year and knew nothing about PFD’s.  I’ve contacted CA’s by phone and basically made all of the mistakes a person can make whose trying to fix their credit.  On top of all of this I recently disputed an account that I paid off years ago that is still showing delinquent.  The OC reported back varified.  I know I paid this debt but I can’t locate the records.  It isn’t too much $543, but I really don’t want to pay it again but now it is showing more recent which is probably hurting my score.  What should I do, should I PFD for less than the full amount and see if they bite.  I’ve tried to get records but it is next to impossible since it was over four years ago that I paid and I am banking with another bank now.  Any suggestions?
