OK, long story short:  In 2002 I open a Cap One credit card with a $300 limit.  Late 2003 I quit paying them.  They never sent it to collection, instead they continue to charge me fees until I finally pay them in full in Mar 08 ($900!).  In Jul 08 I apply for another CC and they give it to me with a $300 limit.  After a few months of on time payments, they bump it up to $500, and then without me even asking they bump it to $3,000 last summer.  I have used the card extensively the whole time, with a high balance of $2600.  Lately I have been PIF each month and the current balance is $155.

Do I:

A) Send them a GW letter to have the old account removed from my file based on the fact that now I am a good customer and I PIF the original debt for 3x the original amount.

or

B) Do nothing, wait for the old account to fall off and thank my lucky stars that they have been kind enough to help me reestablish my credit and give me a new card with a much higher limit.

Any advice would be appreciated.  I just flat-out don’t know what they will do if I ask them to remove the old account.  I don’t want to push my luck and have them close my new account or lower the limit.  After all, they may have no idea that they gave a $3000 credit card to a guy that went 4 years without paying them a dime.

Thanks,

Chris
