We are considering a small neighborhood near the airport to build a house. Only single-engine aircraft and helicopters in flight to the airport and the noise is not really a problem. I would like to know that insurance companies would house a higher position because of however. Does anyone know if this is true?
Yeah. Higher risk of a plane crashing into your house.
As long as you house is not PART of the airport, no.
If you have some type of fly-in house with your own private hangers or your own private landing strip, then you’ll need specialty coverage. If it’s a standard house on a standard lot then a regular homeowners policy should do the trick; I’ve never seen any underwriting rules concerning proximity to an airport. Good luck.
Your premiums are based on a number of factors, including things like how close you live to a fire station, fire hydrant, etc. I have to believe the proximity to things like an airport, landfill, etc. have to impact the rates as well. Call your home owners insurance and ask!
A standard homeowners application asks if your home is within 300 feet of a non-residential property. I have never heard of anyone being turned down for being close to an airport but I have had insureds turned down for being next to a bar
ernesto is right
Nope, distance to/from an airport isn’t a rating factor that *I* have ever seen.
