Citi Account Comprimised!

I just wanted to pass this information on…I logged into my Citibank account to pay my bill and I received the following message:

 

Important Security Message A recent merchant database compromise may have put your account at risk. A new card/account number has been issued. Continue to use your existing card until you activate the new card, or until the Closure Date shown on the new card carrier, whichever is sooner.   Access to Account Online is limited, as a precaution.Download you statements to view payment amounts and statement balance. The Account Activity page will not reflect your most current account information.   We apologize for the inconvenience.   Please call Customer Service at 1-800-950-5114 to:

  • Check current account information via our automated system
  • Speak to a representative and pay by phone (no fee while your Account Online access is limited)
  •   Remember to:

  • Activate your new card as soon as possible, but no later than the Closure Date on the card carrier to your Account Online User ID
  • Inform authorized users of this situation
  • Update any bill paying services that you use to make payments on your Citi account with the new account number
  • Update any service providers who automatically bill your Citi account with the new account number
  • Check your Citi Accounts!
