Should I do a PFD? If I just call and pay it off will it drop my score? This really sucks since I’m looking to apply for a house soon. Advice is appreciated! Thank you!

What are some good ways to rebuild credit besides paying credit cards and bills on time? We already do these things and wanted to know if there was anything else we could do.

I have my utilities which of course help, but i have heard a credit card is the best way to rebuild credit. But with my credit being not real good, no one will approve me for a credit card. I feel like i am chasing my tail in circles.

I just recently paid off all my past credit card debt. I paid off one student loan (expect the interest) and i have one student loan still active. I noticed my credit score went up, but i am still being denied. How long does it take to completely clear off my debt and how soon should i apply for credit so i can “rebuild” my credit. And do bad credit ever go away?

I have an old CA reporting on TU and EX. They don’t even own the debt anymore but are still reporting. It’s set to fall off in July. Anyways I’m still GW’ing the crap out of them. They have no reason to still be reporting when they don’t even own the debt anymore. I can understand in situations when both the OC and CA are reporting — but why would a CA that doesn’t even own the debt still report? They sold the debt and have no vested interest in this matter anymore. Delete it already!

Anyways I’ve found nearly all of their employee’s on LinkedIn and have mailed virtually every single person a GW letter. No response. Honestly I don’t give a crap. I’m going to keep sending them and keep sending them until their either delete this collection or it falls off.

My wife and I are filling for bankruptcy. We have a mortgage a car loan and we are not including these in the bankruptcy and have always kept up with our payments on them. My question is how long it would take to get good enough credit if we needed to move or buy a house? Would we have a rebuilding advantage over people who don’t have mortgages or auto loans?

ive been rebuilding my credit, ive gone from a 530 to a 640 in the past 9 months, ive paid off all my debt minus student loans, have 2 credit cards (just got a good one last month no annual fee and fixed 7.9 apr) with no balance and i make 50k with only $ 500 m/rent and $ 200 m/student loans + expenses (Gas,Cell, etc) . However i got declined, for financing at the honda dealer. My plan as of now is to try to save 1000 – 1500 to put down then try somewhere else. the bike i want is a Honda Shadow Spirit 750. I figured since i just started getting good credit card deals, that my credit was back in atleast fair status. The only reason i can think of i didnt get the loan is my student loans were defered for a long time right out of school and now the debt to credit ratio on the account is at like 101% because intrest still compiles on defered loans. Two questions, 1. Why did i not get the loan? (Ration or Score?) and 2. Whats the best plan for getting the loan soon? (Id rather not wait if i dont have to, i know i can have like 60-75% down by spring, but would prefer not to wait as i have plenty of extra money these days).

Hi everyone, I am wondering what my best course of action would be on a charged-off account that i payed in full today. I tried to get them to do a PFD, but they wouldn’t go for that, should i just start writing letters to higher ups to see if i could get it removed from my reports on a goodwill effort or should i just try to get the lates removed, this is all so confusing to me, lol, if anyone can steer me in the right direction, it would be gratefully appreciated. thank you in advance for any suggestions.

My sister recently had her bancruptcy discharged and is now ready to start rebuilding her credit. Would it help her score if I added her to a few of my credit cards? I have superior credit and want to retain it, so, if I do add her to my cards will her negative credit affect mine? Any ideas on how to help my little sis would be very appreciated.

it is a long and slow process. My husband was self employeed for about 5 years, and that ruined our credit. Now we are rebuilding. We found the house of our dreams, way underpriced, but our credit scores suck. How do we get a home loan, we could afford the payments, but we can’t find financing. We pay over $ 1500 a month towards past debt, but….. We want this house and we can afford it, we just don’t have good credit. What lender will look at the fact that we have been making an effort and our income?

How does a secured credit card actually work?Me and my husband got into alot of trouble about 8 months ago.I was 7 months pregnant when he was in an accident.Broke his collarbone, and fractured his skull. He was unable to work for about 6 months. We lost almost everything, and our credit is now terrible. Our bank accounts got closed. We are just now starting to get back on our feet.To help us repair our credit, would a secured card be the way to go? Is it even possible to get one without any bank accounts? How do they work? How do you deposit money into them with no back account? Its just horrible right now.We live with my parents, and because of out credit we cant even get our own place now.I dont know what to do. Would this be a way to start getting back on track?Do they report it every month?Does it really help you credit? Please Help, can you give me some information about them? or have any other advice for rebuilding our credit? And what is the best secured card that you know of?Please help
I have never had a credit card. Thats not the issue. We have steady income right now. But our credit is destroyed now. We are trying to rebuild it. We cant even open a checking account because its so bad. So thats not the issue. And no we arent going to charge money we dont have, we just want to rebuild so we can get approved for our own place. We could be out of my parents now, but our credit is stopping us.

Okay, so I filed the Big B back in December of 2005. I admit I made a lot of mistake when I was younger. Here’s my question, rebuilding credit? I want to buy a home with my husband. However, I have not rebuilt my credit. I have not made any bad financial investments; I just have not made any financial investments. I just fear going into debt, so I have not rebuilt my credit. At last check my credit score was 640 back in 2008. I spoke with someone at my bank to find out what I needed to do to rebuild my credit, she said buy a car (but it would be at a higher interest rate and I don’t need a car) I could get a couple more credit cards and do what I have been doing, charging X amount and paying it off in full each month (I have one card that I charge all my gas and groceries to and pay off in full each month). Basically it boils down to buying something I don’t need at a higher interest rate to rebuild my credit. So, I have been saving large amount of cash instead. In hopes that having a large down payment will secure a home. Is there a way to rebuild my credit without spending money on things I don’t want? I learned utility bills do not show up on credit reports, unless I don’t pay, is this true? Any suggestions on how others rebuilt their credit would be greatly appreciated

Whether you are credit challenged or have less than perfect credit, you don't have to feel ashamed...you're not the only one. There is help for you and the contents of this booklet can help and assist you with those challenges. If you follow the steps outlined, you can and will find yourself on the way to credit freedom. But, you have to stay on top of the process in order to be successful. I'm not going to sugar coat this by saying it's going to happen over night,
WRONG! it's not. The time

I’m currently working on eliminating debt and rebuilding credit. I have a student loan (it’s current) that’s still a long way from being paid off… I think $ 6,000 but I am making reg. payments on it and I recently got ahead. I have a total of 6 credit cards. 1 is a clothing store card with a balance of $ 58 that can be easily paid if I ever get a statement! (I’ll google their number in a little while) 1 of the cards is current, 1 is ahead, and the other 3 are still behind. I’ve made some payments, but it was less than the minimum because the minimums are so high.
My question is this… I’ve read it’s a good idea to get a secured card or a card for bad credit when you’re trying to rebuild credit. If I got one my plan is to make a small purchase, like a tank of gas, then pay it in full when the bill comes in. Is it too soon for me to do this? Should I wait until I have my other accounts back on track or do I need to start as soon as possible since it takes a while to show up?

Newbie here cleaning up my credit and trying to get into a home purchase eventually. My house was foreclosed about 2.5 years ago. I have pulled my 3 credit reports from EQ(609), EX(639), and TU(713) by signing up on their web sites directly. Trying to clean some thing up I notice on my foreclosure from EQ has the status as 120+ days past due and not foreclosed. The comments state the Foreclosure process is started. The Scheduled Payment Amount amount is not correct and the account number does not come close to matching the loan number I had.

The EX credit report shows the Foreclosure starting when I stopped payment and not when the home was actually foreclosed. It also has the same account number as EQ which is way different than the loan number on my paper work.

The TU report shows the same wrong account number, same wrong monthly payment, a different opened date (by a few days) than the EX report and the payment status as Late 120 days.

My question is for the EQ and TU report that show 120+ days late does the credit report show it as foreclosed? Is it worth trying to dispute if I can show my payment was $ 50 more than what they have? Do I dispute online or via mail? I would appreciate any advice, I have about 12 negative items on my report from 30 days late to 1 item in collections mostly from 06-07 and the foreclosure from 09.

I was in school when I had filed. Now I want to begin the process of getting my credit score back to about 700 to 750 range. What is the quickest way of doing this?

Can someone give me website for a credit card that’s given to people with poor credit. Im not too concerned with the interest rate b/c i plan on paying it off monthly, but i would like no annual fees.
Also, I’d like a card where i don’t have to deposit money to use it.
