I have a student loan that was sold from one agency to another but somehow the old agency reported for not paying in 2 months. I called both agencies and they both claim that they did not report it. My credit score dropped 70 points so how can I fix this?

Hi!  Just a question…my husband needs to raise his score by 20 points in order to apply for an FHA loan.  He seems to be stuck at 595 and it is taking forever to make things happen!  He has a credit line at a local bank which has a limit of $2500 and has been paid down to $1600.  Would paying this down to about $500 do the trick as far as raising the points quickly?  He had 2 very low limit credit cards which had been charged off about 3 years ago but are still being reported as open….is this what is hurting the score?  Should we just pay those off?  I don’t want to do the wrong thing, but it is so confusing!

How can I get a Collections Account Removed?  How many years does it have to stay on your credit report before it can be removed?

If it is after the statute of limitations for your state can you request it to be removed?

I know I’m being impatient. I only got a removal of these collection granted on May 23nd. Just curious if there’s some kind of time frame.

Part of rebuilding my credit  is finding some type of income to try to pay all the bills I owe.  Right not I get 472 per month from SSI which leaves nothing to pay any bills.  I went bankrupty in 2005 so that’s not an option for me.  One creditor has gone to court, but I’m trying to fight that case.  Who knows, I might just win it.  But my question is about getting a viable idea tomake some money so I can pay down my debt.  I’m a cartoonish/graphic artist.  I’ve been selling my cartoons for a long time (about ten years) but when I got back home from the hosptial and rehabilitation (II was at those places for about 15 months) I found that my customers had gone and that the market for my work has dried up.  A lot of other “artist” started selling their work for $1.50 and when people can purchase items for $1.50 there’s no way they are going to give me 6.95 or more for my work.

So, I’m trying to come up with some better ideas on how to sell my work and make some money.  I also like writing.  I’ve written a few books and I’m selling one online called,  “Candy  Wrapping for Profit”, but again, no sales are coming in.

I’d show my graphics site, but I don’t want to be accused of soliciting so anyone can find it by just doing  a Google search of my name.  I just want to show it to help spark some ideas of how I could use them to get a stream of income coming my way.

I need to be able to do work from home.  I’m still bedridden and can’t sit in a wheelchair yet so I’m  basically confined to bed, but that doesn’t stop me from being able to go on the computer.

If anyone has any ideas for me I’d appreciate hearing about it.  Thanks in advance.

I figure since my husband’s credit is shot, I have to fix my credit asap. So, I had a Mervyn’s credit card that was opened 1/2002. In January of 2005 I went 90 days late and 4/2006 was the last month I had the card. I closed it and I didn’t know at the time, it was a bad thing. But the store went under. How or can I get this removed from my credit report?

It’s listed as current closed. Should I leave it alone?

Im sending out a PIF settlement letter, of 10% of what I owe.  If they send back a counter offer, should I ask for a PFD with my acceptance?

Anyone have this happen.  I have a installment account that was paid in full in 2006 and close (even says its closed on credit report), but on my credit report I pulled on Friday it is showing as the current status as 30 days past due even thought it says it was closed.

Same on a credit card , I also have a revolving credit card account that I paid in full and closed in 2006 that is showing a current status as 90 days past due.

Any thoughts on how to rectify this?

I am new to these boards and very happy to find them!  I have a Charge off on my credit report from Verizon.  I disputed the validity of the debt but did end up validly owing the amount and did pay it in full. So, now it is on my report and it says charged off, paid in full. Does this impact my credit score? Is there any way to have it removed other than a GW letter?

thanks!

I paid an old collection in January before I knew about PFD letters. I blindly pulled up the website for this company and thought I would send an email to the President and VP explaining my situation and asking to please delete the account since this account was “settled”. Within 2 hours I received a phone call from the VP of Client Services who was an absolute doll! She agreed to delete and faxed me a letter stating that she would delete. The very next day it was off of my credit report. WOOT WOOT! :) Â
